Margate,
The forum needs a constructive balance between the headstrong unionists and the apathetic realists, and yes you're
free to express your opinion.
however i don't think your contribution is designed to act as a voice of reason,it's more provocative.
i don't believe the reason people have ostracized you is purely because you've crossed the picket line, and after all
the facts have been presented to you, you've clearly missed the point.
Change is inevitable, but in the words of those who are trying to impose it,we should still be treated with dignity and respect.
The insults and abuse only encourage you to provoke further reaction, and the reason you've become so isolated can be summed up in one syllable....
SELFISH!

Why has the "company" got to force yet more major change on it's employees?Margate Postman wrote:im entitled to an opinion just as you are, though i think yours is wrong you are entitled to it.
i wasnt "scabbing" when i went in during the strikes, i was working, as many of you lazy ones werent. so many people who strike only do it to avoid getting hassle from you old fashioned hard core union guys.
i know u need to fight for what u think is right and i respect that, but the company has to change.

Margate man. If you are retiring from work soon I wish you well in retirement. I am also of retirement age and when I do finish I hope to have a reasonable pension and more importantly A LIFE AFTER WORK.
I feel I have been fortunate that in the past the Tolpuddle Martyrs started to revolutionise how workers would receive just rewards for their work. This has been continued to this day.
I, like all workers in the world, have to realise that evolution takes place. Yes we have to change, we have to move FORWARD.
I want to see a future for my children and all young people where dignity and respect is a given and not a return to victorian workhouses.
In those days people had accommodation supplied by the employer which, in truth, resembled a stable for horses. Workers did not know that Gas ands Electricity would in future make the world a 24 hour day. Nor did young people know that housing would be private and mortgages would be the main way to get acccomodation.
In this respect sucessive governments have forced the people to become slaves to work and wages, just like the victorians.
Let us not go backward, with flexible working, pensions that might or might not accrue, depending on investments. Promises of bonuses that many have never seen. Not to mention investment in technolgy, which the government gave 1.9 BILLION pounds to invest in 2002. Go ask the postmen what they have seen for that 1.9 Billion. I was there and my office is still working with antiquated machinery and less equipment.
I feel let down by all the postmen who use cars, run like rabbits all day, and make 2 hours a shift. But, if these postmen worked to the rules we mught not be talking about reduced pensions, flexible working etc.
All I ask of you Margate man, is to respect the sacrifices of workers in the past who have made you feel comfortable with your future retirement. You owe the young people of today a future for tomorrow.

Margate "scab" postman, 77% of the members of the cwu have used their democratic right to back the union in what could be the turning point for this industry. I myself, along with a load of other opg's on this site have not got the opportunity to sell donkey rides on the beach if this once great business goes under. No one is scared of change but it has to be neogotiated and not dictated! Please think...Margate Postman wrote:im entitled to an opinion just as you are, though i think yours is wrong you are entitled to it.

round the office all morning and maybe the odd bit of IPS sorting,
whilst getting free coffee from the manager etc etc. How can you sleep at
night knowing we're all giving up our time and money to pay you to
do **** all.. We are fighting for YOUR rights and you have the cheek
to come on here and slag us off...There is no exuse...you obviously
don't mind being poor in retirement...We all need the money but some
of us have morals and principles...Why not apply for promotion to
management you sound just the right type of person for the job
and Im not old fashioned either, Im open to change and have seen
it all before in my previous job...the fact is RM have no respect for
their staff or the job they do and you have no respect for yourself

You need to research the law my friend things like monthly pay can only be done with your aggreement and not forced on you, and even if some of it was forced in at least we tried to do something instead of letting people walk over you like an old door matt.Margate Postman wrote:mate like i said i can see where u guys are coming from, but its just a dead fight. RM are too big and will force in these changes and yeah it could get bloody. 95% of my office dont talk to me now, closing doors in my face etc, but its fine by me if they want to act like children.

I told you this a while ago Margie but as time has gone on it's changed a bit.
One guy at our place now has a week or two to go,he backs us all the way and is always out with us.
The togetherness in my office (bar 3 maybe 4)is unreal.
You should be ashamed of yourself!!
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

MATE this old margie is a card, ive been avin nice little chats wiv him since ive been on the site, he never seems to fail to amaze me of how one person can be so FELFISH and leach on the backs of the union and people he works with, The donkey rides that old margie will do wont come to much as he wont feed the poor donkeys and ask em to carry twice as many kids as before and for less feed,,, Just like RM are to us... When the donkeys die... Margie will be responcible, LIKE RM ARE TO US AND THE PEOPLE OF THE UK.....elmo wrote:Margate "scab" postman, 77% of the members of the cwu have used their democratic right to back the union in what could be the turning point for this industry. Im surprised that the margate postie has that attitude,i know what the planet thanet office based in sunny margate is like they treat the staff like a piece of crap near beat them with a shittie black stick, dont let um out until the teacher says you can go and the managers get a buzz out of being like it,you are right we might need to change but that dont give them the right to treat the people with any less respect and you know the problem has come about because we have come in earlie and used our own cars run about like headless chickens just cause silly managers have been put in a silly place and they have lied about figures and told big white lies when reporting how thier offices have run and have no back bone and silly staff like margie have stood and said yes i will do that sir love you gis more o/t no its ok i'll do it for free its just as well you are going we've got enough management puppets to fill a life time with.
