The framework insists there must be a people's solution in place which will include bump vrs , vrs and the ability for indivduals in the Rdcs to move with the work .

In terms of the VOCs we will have to wait for the. National debate to be played out. This CWU for all it's critics have protected people in mail centre closures and VOC and RdC closures and will continue to do so . It will be our aim if Woking and East London do close as many as possible indivduals first perferences.

This the the part of the MTSF that worries me (quoted from another thread).

We have been told recently that a joint seniority list will be produced and all the jobs that are available will be allocated .The bad thing is that this list will be calculated on earnings so therefore somebody on the least earnings on earlies might then be left with the only option of having to go even though he or she may have 30 years plus service and someone with 5 years on nights would then get a plum job in the new processing unit

I didn't realise this until recently and being on earlies this really affects me.

I still think the Royal mail protects peoples jobs more than the private sector, I only have to look at how self-employed people are treated to realise this but this RDC closure looks like it's going to be a real struggle.

Having high seniority doesn't help you anymore it's all about whether you are in receipt of shift allowance that counts.

A crafty stunt RM might pull is to have a re-pick before the closure and then only pay protect the shift allowance payments from the date of the last re-pick (re-sign).

I wonder if they will try this one on.

When our last building closed we had non of this, vacancies were done on seniority alone with non of this new "shift allowance" variable thrown in.
But that was over six years ago.

RM can't do that under MTSF, plus I'd imagine the area/div reps would kick up hell.

the values used are the average payments received for all the data they hold on the subject. (i.e. if they have 5 years data, they must use 5 years data)

this may be both to your benefit and detriment as many nationally have found out

It seems what Royal mail are after is to get rid of all the old contracts, staff with allowances built in etc so they can hire new staff on contracts that pay less and the new staff will be easier to get rid of, basically they do not want any old timers.

What they seem to be doing is offering jobs that are impossible or uneconomic to get to because of the long distances involved in travelling and then encouraging people to take VR so Royal mail can say they are not making any compulsory redundancies.

This might be all wrong, we might get offered lovely new jobs with out much travelling involved but I am quite cynical and I just can't see this happening.

My paranoid senses tell me there is a stitch up on the way and I really must do some more reading of agreements.
