Milford Haven postmen 'gutted' by decision

MILFORD Haven postal workers have described their “bitter disappointment” at the announcement the town’s sorting office will close next month.

Milford Haven postman for over 24 years and work place representative John Rusinek said the team had been left “gutted” by the decision.

“We didn’t know which way it was going to go, but we are all bitterly disappointed and it marks the end of an era,” he said.

Mr Rusinek said the team wanted to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported their campaign to keep the office open, including the 4,800 people who signed a petition, the hundreds who joined the Facebook group and the countless people who sent direct emails to Royal Mail representatives urging them to retain the facility.

He also thanked Milford Haven Town Council and the Milford Haven county councillors who had backed the campaign.

“We would like to thank everyone who took the time to support us,” he added The sorting office on Robert Street will officially close its doors for a final time on Saturday, June 9.
