Trucks running with less than half empty loads

On a number of occasions ive been driving lorries with less than half loads on them, so it appears to me that management aren't doing their job properly in checking the running sheet for that particular run, i know mail output is dropping but its getting ridiculous now, driving a 75 double deck trailer with 7 yorks on it is a waste of time, considering if the truck that was on the bay before me had another 10 mins he could have put them on his truck.

Does the other truck you refer to do the same legs as you or does it start and/or finish in different places?

With RM starting to use 100odd york trailers it probably won't be long before earlier runs get axed where they can and the later runs taking all of what they would take plus what would have gone on the earlier run.

Are them 100 york trailers any higher or wider then the 75 york double stackers or are they just longer?

No idea i think theyre just longer versions of the 98 curtainsiders, it'll be interesting to see how they cope in most places, SWDC is a challenge at the best of times.

Funny that,I heard today that all our ms2 and ms3 will be coming mixed on a double decker soon,rather than 3 or 4 lorries over the course of the shift.Total opposite of the original post!

Alot of the problem is that processing ain't getting the work out on time because they have cut the staff inside too much. The problem with the Double deckers is there is a certain way of loading and what you can have on the top deck and these processing managers think they can hold a lorry without a holding code. They don't seem to comprehend that these drivers have other places to go and I was told by a logistics driver that they get a bollicking if they are late for any run

I agree with your points.The driver needs the lighter yorks with packets on the top deck,while the heavy yorks of boxed mech needs to go on the bottom.

And of course van sharing is Royal Mail's way of ensuring that for most of its vehicles the seating isn't half empty.
