Would of been a good idea to have put all the SD's on the vans when SDD came in. :silenced

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

out of about 60 duties in our office, id say about 15 have a PDA, thats the rural duties in vans and the 2 town centre HCT rounds.
All the rest of us on bikes or HCT rounds use a pen and paper.
we are expected to phone in by 1.15 to report any specials we cant deliver, if we dont then they assume all have been successfully delivered.

It takes a long time doing paperwork when you don't have a PDA. Say someone isn't in for a normal recorded parcel - by the time you've stuck the sticker in your book, waited at the door a little bit, wrote a P739 out, stuck another sticker on that then stuck ANOTHER sticker on the actual parcel and written on that you can easily lose a minute / two minutes. I know it sounds petty but if you have 20 or 30 items like this per day thats 30mins gone it faffing around with stickers

what stickers that?! we just write "739" and the date in large, often barely legible, figures somewhere on it

We were told we have to use stickers on every single packet has not been delivered, they have boxes for date, duty number and initials ( and are a complete pain in the arse ).

We also have to leave the orange sticker for recordeds in the book we carry and the other sticker off the recorded on the P739 slip.

You do make things hard for yourselves, If your going to be late scan it as not delivered, no answer, then later on when you get there scan it again if they're in and jobs done..bit of cheating hurts nobody.

And if the customer happens to be sitting looking at the track&trace website wondering why their special says not delivered/no answer when no-one has been near their door?
Or you get to the door after 1300 and the customer starts rubbing their hands about the compensation they are due?
You do make things hard for yourself. :cuppa
