Royal Mail announces changes to delivery times in the PA1 and PA2 postcode areas
THOUSANDS more people across Renfrewshire have been warned to expect changes to the way their mail is delivered.
Earlier this week, the Paisley Daily Express revealed that cost-cutting measures being introduced by Royal Mail mean that customers in the PA3 postcode area – which covers the Ferguslie Park, Gallowhill and Gockston areas of Paisley, as well as Linwood – will have to wait until later in the day for their post to be delivered.
Now Royal Mail chiefs have announced that posties in the PA1 and PA2 postcode areas will also be using new delivery methods and will adopt revised delivery routes.
Although some residents and businesses will continue to receive their mail by lunchtime, other people will have to wait until the afternoon for deliveries to be made.
Royal Mail is writing to every address in the PA1 and PA2 postcode areas – including Paisley town centre, as well as a number of housing schemes – to inform people about the changes.
The company, which is already under fire after introducing a big hike in the price of stamps earlier this week, insists that changes to deliveries have to be made as part of efforts to modernise the way it operates.
It is hoped that the new system for deliveries in the PA1, PA2 and PA3 postcode areas will maintain service levels and help to keep prices as low as possible.
According to Royal Mail, fewer letters are now posted every day and the company must organise its delivery routes to be as efficient as possible.
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We need to modernise the way we operate. We are therefore making changes in Paisley to maintain our services and to keep our prices as low as possible.
“Royal Mail will continue to deliver in the morning and for a longer period during the day. Many customers will continue to get their mail by lunchtime.
“The time customers receive mail will depend on where they live on the new delivery route. This may be later or possibly earlier than current delivery times. When mail volumes vary, we may need to adjust delivery arrangements and times.”
Customers who have any queries after they have received their letter from Royal Mail can call the customer services team on 0845 601 1399.

They are already having issues with the park and loop, some of the loops aren't getting anything added on where some are getting a fair bit. I was in with the planners yesterday and my street is the 2nd last loop where at the moment I get my mail in the morning not anymore.

All credit to the Paisley Daily Express for recognising this crock of shite for what it really is.the Paisley Daily Express revealed that cost-cutting measures being introduced by Royal Mail
I can't remember seeing this anywhere else. Usually, the local papers just churn out the standard RM bull about modernisation, improving (!) the service etc.
