i think people are missing the point

be it ovetime or not

the contractual arangement states you will be paid all outstanding monies owing on xyz date

if not then it is a breach of contract

It's not breach of contract if it's a genuine mistake which is then rectified.
There is nothing in the OP's post to suggest it was a deliberate act.
The bank charges are an unfortunate consequence but whether you could hold RM to account over it is unlikely.

i understamd what you are saying.
their is no doubt that it was an oversight by royal mail and the error was put right at the earliest oppertunity but the employee has still suffered a consequential loss through royal mails error

ignorence is no defence and all that

Some years ago I was paid through Barclays prior to BACS when salaries were input by hand - cut a long story short - out when the SO - before the salary input and I incurred a bank charge - but the bank would not reimburse me.
