Warm and sunny all day. Rceorded packets galore. Hours docket.

Two, not so good days although the weather has been ok. Had a bloke answer the door yesterday, bladdered and not really able to understand what I was trying to say. At 12.30! Today he answered the door with a big Cheshire cat grin on his face, absolutely sober think he remembered the day before and was a bit embarrassed.

On full time release till October for our revision

Got out at 9.30 but did not finish till 2.15 so 15 mins short of 5 hrs walking, booked 45 mins .

I am cream crackerd now.

virtually the same! except got out at at 9,40 and finished at 2.40.
6 dtd this week im running on empty.

Any opinions on whether I should join the CWU folks?

A month in, and the job itself is great, but this getting in an hour early without pay is wearing a bit thin.
I'm also being given absorptions a long way away from my usual walk, and I can hardly afford any further petrol costs.

Still being something of a newbie, and wanting to impress (in a hope that full time could be a possibility one day....), I don't want to ruffle too many feathers, but of course at the same time I don't want to be taken the p1ss out of.

My previous encounters with a union were shocking to say the least, but I remain open minded.

I am really glad things are working out for you.

I think you need to look at this getting in early unpaid and then delivering absorption work. If you were to come in on time would you have the extra time to deliver the absorption. If not they would then have to pay you overtime or get someone else to do it.

I am not going to break your head over using your car as all out part timers do the same but as you are finding out the cost of fuel and wear and tear do add up. I assume you have registered your insurance and MOT details with the office manager and have business cover on your policy.

I understand your desire to impress and not rock the boat but from what I understand the opportunity to upgrade to full time goes against RM current policy and is now quite rare no matter how willing you are to help the managers.

I think you need to look at the CWU as a kind of insurance policy if you make a mistake or need to take time off sick. In such a circumstance you can receive advice and representation.

Sat 5th,

Iam totally knacked out. A busy Sat and took 4hr 15min by the end my legs were like lead. I had planned to cut the grass when i got home but just could not face it with aching legs, misses aint happy and thinks iam lazy. Still only walked 55 miles this week eh.

Average day for a Saturday. Managed an hour in bed later on. Just finished watching "Kill Bono" on Sky, great film.

They changed the way our mail is coming down..............leaving the second lot of sequenced mail to be collected means we do get out earlier.......but it does mean that I didn't get to cut off today

Chilled out. Meal with the family including nephew and his girl, up from Torquay. Out for some liquid refreshment later.

Another boring week in a boring job, doing the same banal things as before in the same order, with no hope of respite, no chance of refuge at the end of the week, and nothing to look forward to in life but the rare chance of a rest and, at its culmination, the greatest indignity of all - death.

So yeah, days are getting worse. I'm getting very close indeed to that point where I throw in the towel and wander off into the sunset. I've been eyeing up a year's travel around Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. There's a deep and hostile restlessness stirring within me. What to do, what to do. Is there any worse fate than being stuck in the same cycle, ad nauseam?

I don't think there is. I think we all live in our own personal hell, mostly because we let ourselves.
