Anyone from east London?

Greetings.

Our centre is part of the RDC rationalisation and we are due to close.

I am from Woking VOC, it's a sort of mini RDC with a few customer collections and vehicles parked on site.

There is another centre in east London that is also closing but I do not have the exact name of the place and I was wondering
if anyone on this site worked there or knew anyone who worked there.

It's a bit vague I know but that's all the information I have at present.

Our centre won't be shutting for a few months yet we have just been told that we are shutting, it will probably happen in September time.

Right the exact name of the place that is shutting along with us is East London distribution centre, Oliver Road, West Thurrock.

There is a lot of our work going into Princess Royal distribution centre and possibly duties available there for ourselves in Woking and those people in Thurrock
so if anyone here is from PRDC or East London DC could you please PM me or introduce yourself here because I think the more information that is available the better.

Pool resources and share information is definitely the best way forward for everyone concerned I think.

So are you part of Network 12? We in our VOC have been told that we are getting more delivery office runs. Now that a few former mail centres are being turned into "Super do's". However i wonder how many more Voc's will close in the next few months, especially with the business buying more 98 double deck trailers and the 110 york trailers. Thats all i see now at NDC.

For the record the two 90 day consultation periods have yet to start on Royal Mail" s proposals for closing East London VOC and RDC and Woking.

There is a meeting scheduled the week after next where Royal Mail will present their business case to the CWU including employee impact which will start the first 90 day consultation process.

The members at both Woking and East London will be kept up to date after this meeting.

Both are included in Network 12 but the paragon outputs from this have still not produced and rumours is that its is not going to hit the timescales which were set.

No there is no NPG meeting next week and you need to understand where we are in the process. Yes Royal Mail want to close both East London Voc and Woking but there are two 90 day processes which have to be done which have yet to be started and then a further period when the peoples issues have t be resolved.

The closure of East London Mail RDC and VOC is not likely to take place till 2013 at the earliest.

The meeting is scheduled for Monday 14th at PRDC and it is by invite only or at least that's what I have been told.

From what I hear there will be about thirty people attending.

Well I sure would love to know what is discussed on Monday but you have already given me more information than anyone else so far and it's appreciated.

The meeting on Monday has been arranged for Royal Mail to present their business case on why Woking and East London should close ! Including their net profit value , their solutions for the people issues and their timescales. This will allow the cwu to challenge the plan and then if necessary attempt to either change their plan or stop it.

This presentation will also set up the LIG process for the local sites to get into challenging the plan and the wider group which sits above to resolve issues which cannot be resolved locally.

I'm a bit out of touch with all of this as I'm just an OPG who's kept in the dark.

Any recommendations for threads relating to network changes and this whole process of RDC rationalisation and how it should be implemented?

I guess I should also read and thoroughly understand the MTSF agreement.

P.S. What's an LIG process?

I've been reading it for 10 years and still don't thoroughly understand it.

Johnny it does stand for Local Implementation Group which which is made up of Operational Managers from the site , an HR managers and a Project manager and then the CWU Reps from the site. This group oversees both the operational plan and people's plan including challenging any issues. issues which they cannot resolve will be passed up for resolution to the main steering group which the divisional reps will site on.

MTSF is complex and there are plenty who can advise you on this. By the way fish if you own a CWU first edition of the MTSF agreement it has a picture of a young postman on it ! Who says I don't do deliveries a certain John Keggie decided to put me on there when I spoke against the fact we had an agreement on resolving the people before know what Royal Mail's plan on job losses.
