no one knowscwu's stance yet, it's probably 50/50 as they might be able to increase their membership through this with TNT staff. Hopefully not

Just been reading the courier "special" that came today, and had a thought. If RM insist we are losing money on every item we deliver for them, why would TNT decide to do their own end to end service? The answer then must be because its cheaper for them?So does that mean we aren't making such a big loss,if not a profit?
:hmmmm
same as it ever was...

No their overheads are lower so the gap between profit and cost is larger.

They pay less, they have less staff, they have more modern machines, they don't have the mix of mail we have all of these and other factors mean that TNT can have a lower unit price than Royal Mail can. Therefore if they are charging their clients the same as we charge them, we make a loss, they make a profit.

Nick Wells (chap in video) and our Moya are running delivery services in Britan  Nicks Holland based company are in a right mess (Dutch Post) and Moya left Canadian Post in what can only be described as UTTER TURMOIL

What the hell was Wells going on about at all? he is just a 2 bit bloke running a 2 bit company, well paid well I suppose he is but that does not make him a good Leader.

The future looks good does it not :cuppa
NO bags on shoulders please except for Moya who keeps her big fat wage packet in hers

"Competition will be great for the industry and for customers" - try telling that to residents of rural Holland who lost their daily deliveries.
"no, we're not going to cover every home in the country" - too true.

Seen a TNT postie in west london area yesterday and he wasnt the sharpest tool in the box, leaving his bike unlocked at bottom of 'rough' estate. He then told me schoolkids pushed his bike over the day before when he was working at 4:30pm. Plus he was so lost and delivering all council letters which alot came back to my frame- and passed to DOM.
What i thought was strange was that he was doing council letters?! Surely they should be sticking with us as they are government backed and also because we have done all there work before with no problems and TNT are 'new' so surely not as reliable.
Royal Mail leadership really needs to fight this for sure and win contracts that are being easily won by TNT. The implications if this trial is successful could be immense and catasthrophic be under no illusions about that. Putting out negative press releases is a start but Royal Mail hierachy must win back customers-big customers- to see off this threat.
Imagine implications if TNT were winning bidders in taking over and privatising Royal Mail ? ? ? The future could be orange.....

This could be used as a good point to resurrect the "Delivered by Royal Mail" stamp/logo/cancellation.

Moya said when reporters asked "With competitors now doing deliveries to homes, we need to identify, for legal reasons, if they have been through our system". After all if a TNT employee decides to delay mail and its found evidence will be needed to identify the perpetrator, and protect the innocent RM postie"

Indeed, and hopefully those letters seen bt Cantona7 "which a lot came back to my frame- and passed to DOM" did NOT have the 'S' in the top right corner and so can be identified as NOT DSA and then appropriately surcharged ( or destroyed ) by the DOM ?

Royal Mail would know exactly what post codes are affected, would be very hard to do one of our guys if the TNT peeps shab the mail.
Would very much doubt TNT would be passing anything on to us in those areas.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

"A quarter of a million letterboxes" "in densely populated West London" - but does anyone here know which Postcode areas or districts are involved ?
