An 18-year-old Bodmin man has been arrested after a Royal Mail van was allegedly stolen in Saltash.

Officers were called to Callington Road at around 5.15pm on Tuesday.

When police arrived, it was discovered that a man had allegedly threatened a Royal Mail member of staff and stolen a set of keys.

He then stole a Royal Mail van and collided with a parked vehicle before leaving the scene, say police.

It is alleged the man failed to stop for the police and debris from the damaged van hit another vehicle.

Police say he then proceeded to commit numerous traffic offences and collided with another vehicle before leaving the road near Landrake.

The driver, an 18-year-old man from Bodmin, was arrested at around 5.20pm and taken to Derriford Hospital where he remains.

No-one else was injured.
