Edward Hunter wrote:I firmly believe we should have gone out for Harry potter saturday, public support is all well and good but they only really care when things that matter to them are affected, harry potter books and christmas presents for example!

If nothing is sorted by then, and i can`t see it, the rolling strikes would cause chaos, hitting RM at their most profitable time. That would really make them
think.
Crack on Edward.. :Applause :Applause :Applause Just the stiff upper lip we need fella.... I wholely agree with your points...
The Harry Potter rubbish was handled with to much kidgloves.. I think its time to do what the RMT do and if it makes the public notice and inconveniance them.. Then this will push RM into action and then we hold the cards.. Its not a popularity contest its a war of the strong and willing....

I can understand being onside with the public but RM know this and play on this all the time... CWU its time for action not secret meetings and hush hush little chats... Do you want to work to RM's beat of the drum and then never having rights as we know it again?>?>>? I cant stand for it myself!!

BOLLOX TO EM!!!

Why are Billy Hayes and Dave Ward getting all the bashing? I thought there was a PEC?

Are not the PEC just as responsible for policy?

Unless some one is seriously claiming that the PEC and Billy/Dave are at odds with each other on policy then its not fair to tottally blame them (Billy and Dave) if you are unhappy with National policy/recent events!

THe strike ballot was sold to the membership on the basis of minium cost. CWU powers that be have a moral duty to keep to their word! The members want this solved not more strikes.

No i think you'll find the majority of staff are more willing to strike than ever having seen these propsals and the lack of leadership coming from the c.w.u. We've even got people who came to work during the last strikes so pi**ed off with the propsals there out this time as well.
If :lfo :cfo wanted to kill off the union i think they'll achieve it because if this stuff comes in whats the point of paying my union subs for a union with no power?

Whilst PEC are most certainly part of this it is our leaders who seem to setting the scene with a defeatist tone that has marred the union for years so that now most OPGs expect and except the shafting that we are taking as the norm and are beginning to hope that it will happen to someone else instead of themselves.
This is my prediction if we dont win this completely. RM will have been given a license to destroy any rights terms and conditions we have and they Will destroy our service to line private firms pockets with the eventual break up and selloff of Royal Mail. If you dont think i am right just look at Post Office Counters and how that started with the CWU negotiating (lol) and how we are seeing a collapse in that part of the service so that now many counter staff either have to leave or get paid NMW working for and making proffit for fat cats instead of being able to serve the there community and get a fair wage and pension.

Agreed , there is no middle ground in this dispute, not of our choosing but RM are going for broke, winner takes all. Forget your old give and take, this is fundamentally different, compromise if you must , but next year when we are weaker they,ll beback for more.

I feel at the mo WE ALL need to keep together and sing from the same song sheet.. Billy n Dave are only but two people among thousands... WE HOLD THE KEY. And This site that has nicely progressed as ive been seeing.... Lets keep the banter but put the pressure on RM mostly and BILLY N DAVE.... Lets keep on at em that we dont want to be sold make em notice they just cant get a deal and hope for the best.... WE WANT A GOOD FAIR WAGE RISE AND NO STRINGS TO BONUSES AS THEY ARE OR WILL BE AND WORKING CONDITIONS NOT CHANGED UNLESS AGREED WITH A MAJORITY.... Come to us first not make a deal based on THEY will sell it to us... We can all make our minds up... In the mean time... STRIKE..... HIT IT HOME WE MEAN BUSINESS!!!

I was named the "site nut" By POSTMAN.. As a joke and i didnt mind it but dont push the fact.. Now RM Have made me nuts with there actions and push to ruin this service and job of OURS.. I only want the best for the union as most do on this site.... Its the bullshite that Big Al sends out in the media and the propaganda that seeps from RM constantly..

How can a firm slander its workers so badly and then expect and want us to "tow the line" & "all work together in this" CRAP!!! How can they patronise us like they do? In my opinion...

I wouldnt last a minute at PEC as i feel they want people who toe the party line and not rock the boat.... That isnt a slight at em but i know and lots of people on ere know they would love to Put a few straight from RM and the CWU.. But lets face it we have our vote so use it wisely and the biggest thing is VOTE !!!

Vote and take 5 minutes to find out who your putting your mark for and not just regional or because he/she is heard of before.... We dont want another AL Johnson do we???? Or Keggie come to think of it???

Lets pull together and fight on one front at a time... RM... And there money puppets BIG AL n lil adam.....

Edward Hunter wrote:At the end of the day, i want a deal done. An acceptable deal done.If it takes time i dont really care. Why lose more money if we don`t have to? Some on here are spoiling for a fight, but dont go to early. Christmas is round the corner, our biggest bargaining tool surely.Personally if things get so bad that still no deal has been sorted, the 2 weeks of christmas pressure IS OUR TIME. It would put the boot right in, and the media will certainly dig deep to find out what this dispute is REALLY all about
Get real! How many of the changes are going to be brought in before christmas? Once RM start with these changes there is NO going back. Am I spoiling for a fight? I am spoiling to preserve the rights of the membership to collective bargaining, for the right to a decent wage and to be treated with respect, for the agreements made in the past to be adhered to and for the job losses to be managed within the MTSF.

So the answer is YES and so should every right minded member of this union - including the leadership.
I think everyone needs to get real, does anyone think we will come out of this dispute with an out and out victory with no changes to anything,i doubt it very much. There are gonna be things that the union will have to concede i know that and so should everybody else or we are living in cloud cuckoo land.Yes im up for the fight along with most of you guys on here but dont build our hopes up to high as a lot of us will be in for a massive disapointment
Have you now seen the details of the Managers Brief? I am not going to concede anything willingly! As soon as you start saying the changes are coming then you've as good as lost. I'd rather be massively disappointed.

As for another poster saying that the CWU said it would be at minimal cost - well you get what you pay for - no cost = no result.
