POSTAL POLICY FORUM
The purpose of this LTB is to advise Branches of important developments linked to current national talks and the Business Transformation Agreement.
Last week the Postal Executive examined two proposed draft agreements that have been tabled on Extended Job Security and World Class Mail.
In addition, the Postal Executive also considered Royal Mail's recently announced timetable which delays some delivery revisions and the associated benefits of a shorter working week, lump sums and one in four Saturdays, until spring 2014. Given this is well beyond the three year Business Transformation Agreement, we believe this delay of benefits to a significant number of our members is unacceptable.
The Union has now raised this with the company and it has been agreed to engage in immediate discussions to find an acceptable solution.

In light of these developments and our belief that Branches would want the opportunity for informed and democratic debate on important agreements and any solution to the revision timetable, the Postal Executive has agreed to convene a Postal Policy Forum in around six weeks time.
Royal Mail has been advised of this and have subsequently written to the Union committing to resolving outstanding issues including the revision programme, Colleagueshare and pay related matters (professional driver in delivery, minor repairs) in time for the Policy Forum.
It will be our intention to place agreements before the Policy Forum via a Special Report, which Branches will have the opportunity to amend. The detailed arrangements for the Forum will be published in due course in line with the agreed guidelines. It is important that Branches and all Conference delegates are made aware of these developments prior to this week's Postal Group Conference.
Any enquiries on the arrangements for the Postal Forum should be addressed to the DGS (P) Department, enquiries on specific delivery issues should be addressed to the Outdoor Secretary.

At a guess...
An extension of the commitment to the overarching principle of no compulsory redundancies during the extension of the BT2010 Agreement through to 2015 and a reaffirmation of the commitment to a predominantly full-time workforce....or more "extended job security".

While I might share a little of your cynicism, shouldn't the fact that there have been no(?) compulsory redundancies be applauded?

I agree.
My point wasn't to be cynical.
My point was that i don't think there will be much new about the new agreement on extended job security other than the extended part obviously.
