Saturday wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Packets were still down and DSA was average. Managed to stay dry, which was a bonus.

covered a walk with a street with an entire row of new houses.. with no numbers on almost all of the doors. they weren't even in any order that i could work out, bloody stupid. knocked on a few doors to ask and finally sorted it out, but

So light only needed trolley for 3 out of 7 loops. No signed fors. No packets in last 3 bags. 80 minutes early.

Strange - I actually had more sign fors and packets than I had bundles. 7 bundles 12 sign fors and shed loads of packets.

Decent day.
Warm, dry, pretty light and nearly finished my quota of DTDs.
Any opinions on whether I should join the CWU folks?
A month in, and the job itself is great, but this getting in an hour early without pay is wearing a bit thin.
I'm also being given absorptions a long way away from my usual walk, and I can hardly afford any further petrol costs.
Still being something of a newbie, and wanting to impress (in a hope that full time could be a possibility one day....), I don't want to ruffle too many feathers, but of course at the same time I don't want to be taken the p1ss out of.
My previous encounters with a union were shocking to say the least, but I remain open minded.
All feedback appreciated, cheers.

If they are asking you to go in 1hr early without being paid they are already taking the piss. If you are doing it voluntarily........ in my opinion don't you are doing yourself out of money.

if they ASK you to come in early, you should be claiming OT for the extra hour.
if you're doing it voluntarily well..
Petrol costs? are you using your car on delivery? I'd be claiming for that too..

Got wet.
RM is using thinner paper for the epod cards nowadays, so that got wet as well. Only thing is, when that got wet, it turned into papier mache. So the painstaking effort of acquiring signatures was a waste of time - had to tell the relevant guys that the specials were all gone ... and f*ck the rest.
Brought a few recordeds back because:
- there was no card on which to get a signature
- none of the RM provided pens had survived getting wet
- my 739s had turned into mush as well
Maybe if RM wants to catch up with the competition, it should concentrate on getting the equipment right in terms of doing the job. Not that anybody cares. I don't, either
. Just a bit annoyed at getting wet. Also, much of our uniform has no backups - like boots, for instance - meaning today's water could be tomorrow's water as well. I never bring anything back from work (I've got to bike it so lugging weight is a no-no), so they'll still be where I left them come tomorrow morning. Yay.
