1st day out on your own would suggest that you're fairly new to the job and 'newbies' are always slower until they find their feet. It is expected so dont worry about that. Saturdays have traditionally been a little lighter than normal but only 'easy' to someone who knows the job i.e your colleagues or someone who wants to worry you into perfoming beyond your capabilities i,e, management. Just explain what you have or havent done on monday and they wont sack you as it's really not as easy for them as that. You may get some more training or a little counselling IF you haven't followed procedure properly but every one of us started out feeling a little overwhelmed 1st time out alone. Try and enjoy the weekend.

What's unusual about that? I had one day following someone on a walk then the day after did it myself from then on, that was 15 years ago. Admittedly the walks were a lot easier then but surely a couple of days going out with someone is enough to teach you the basics of delivery?

Don't worry - be happy!

Training and expectations vary hugely, and my experience is that the less the training, the lower the expectations. If they haven't taught you properly and something has gone wrong, the fault is their's not yours. In my first few weeks, I had sleepless nights over the silliest things, none of them caused any trouble.

Enjoy the fresh air and improving fitness. :thumbup

But you get long hours on delivery to imagine what you can do to the managers :nervous some can be really inventive................you can just imagine drowning one in marshmallows or gently poking them in the side until their heads explode (all Scanner like) :nervous :nervous

Yes you are right it WAS easier 15 years ago, a bloody lot easier.

Even harder if you follow the correct procedures as well.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I got 2 days training on collections and then when I volunteered for deliveries overtime I was given the mail in a few bags and pushed out the door.

Everything I know about deliveries I have had to learn myself.
