Re: working your scedule attendance while on leave
Phil the S/A is paid for covering the collections of an evening.
We get 2 hours normal O/T and 2.5 hours S/A rate .
We have a list of all those that wish to do collections and go down the list accordingly so no one misses out.
We update our list monthly asking across the office anyone wishing to be considered.
S/A at one point was automatically allocated to each driving section ,now that we have had our revision we changed it due to the driving duties being one men sections instead of two as previous.
Regardless of what the way forward agreement says if the office are not happy with the current situ then they have the power to change it .You have to fair and equal to all in your office not just a few.
The difference between S/A and O/T pay is very small indeed forgot how much think it about 35-50p

Re: working your scedule attendance while on leave
Right guys slightly new slant on things. The management are finding different ways of getting round the annual leave and overtime coVerage thing. I have just been made aware of this. They are now asking staff to come in (offering overtime) to work there days off through there annual leave week. The crafty thing is .. a reserve doesn't have a scheduled day off as such through annual leave and also they ask staff to change their day off now through thier annual leave week and pay them overtime. My argument - The way forward agreement. Thier argument that on the staff members day off it doesn't affect their annual leave and it is their choice (ie mind your own business). This overtime is cover deliveries. I know that the way forward is quite clear on this, but its arguing the day off scenario I need to win. Opinions and views please.

Re: working your scedule attendance while on leave
if your off on holiday, that it , you are on holiday
this biz about comming in on your day off during your holiday week is pure crap
your holiday is made up of the statutory 28 days annual minimum entitlement so there is no rest day during your holiday entitlement
if that makes sense

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It is a loophole.POSTMAN wrote:Is it a loop hole or is it not,I have asked justsayit for details.
It wasn't at the time.
When the Way Forward was written most of us worked 6 days a week so it wasn't an issue.
To be honest it's a pretty pathetic loophole.
You're on annual leave...you shouldn't be working.
If you want to try and get around that on a technicality it shows you up as being a bit of a desperate docket grabbing sad sack of....
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: working your scedule attendance while on leave
I have stood my ground on the way forward with some success at the moment, but they seem determined to prove that the day off is available for overtime to be paid. Sad, I agree .. Desperate, I agree. I thank you for your replies and maybe there should be an amendment tabled to reflect the 5 day week???

Re: working your scedule attendance while on leave
not on a 9 day fortnight. i.e. im off this week, and my days off this week is friday and saturday. so im only using 4 days of my annual leave (mon-thurs). as rest days do not count towards your a/l quota. (in my case 27 days)bringon4dayweeks wrote:there is a rest day included in a weeks leave your on hols 5 days in a six day peiodkeithposty wrote:if your off on holiday, that it , you are on holiday

The point is: Holiday is holiday.
You are meant to be away from your place of work to rest and recuperate.
Not going in to work one day or two days/week in a snide attempt to circumvent the clear intentions of The Way Forward Agreement in order to grab some docket and hide the chronic understaffing/sick leave of your office.
Anyone doing this is a knob.
Any manager doing this is a knob.
