MARKS & Spencer has signed the lease to move into a former Royal Mail sorting office.
The Berkhamsted High Street building was bought by retail building investment company Metric Property two months ago.
M&S has now signed a lease to open a Simply Food store on the site, which will also include small shop or restaurant units facing the High Street under the firm’s plans.
Metric Property has been consulting with Dacorum Borough Council on the scheme, which would include an extension to the building.
A public consultation on the plans will be at Berkhamsted Civic Centre between 11.30am and 7pm on Thursday, May 3, and between 11am and 5pm on Friday, May 4.
It will include an exhibition of plans showing what the new building will look like. It is being held before the firm submits a planning application for the work.
