An update in the voice.

Postal workers in Crosby, Merseyside, walked out on Easter Saturday over the disciplining of a member for a
disagreement with a manager.

Area delivery rep Mike Yarwood told Voice: "Last December, this particular individual was going through some severe personal difficulties and told his manager he felt unable to perform extra duties required of him.
"Unfortunately, an argument ensued, tempers were raised and our member was later accused of making threats - something which he totally denies, as do others who heard the conversation."
Disciplinary action was taken against the member, which resulted in his being compulsorily transferred to a
different office and being handed a two-year suspended dismissal.
"All of us at Crosby think this punishment is unfair," said Mike, who added: "This was a disagreement and
not something that should have led to disciplinary action."
A ballot of the 58-strong workforce resulted in a 93 per cent strike vote and a short period of action to keep the ballot live. The Easter action took place after an appeal failed to overturn the penalty. Discussions to resolve the dispute are ongoing.
