It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Many thanks for the download link. So am I correct to understand this as .. if the delivery method for the duty is on foot with pouch (3.5 hours) then the rest of the days hours should be made up only of light work, sorting/preperation ?

No, you just can't be out on foot for more than the 3.5 hours, they can still put you in a van to deliver packets.

The span indicator tool has a maximum span of 4.30 (first letter to last letter), therefore no walk should exceed this.
Although, I believe that the national plan is a 4hr outdoor span because the planners throughtout my patch always come to this figure.

But again the outdoor span is something that must be agreed and should be based on terrain,H&S,housing mix, flats, high streets, fatigue issues,travel,etc...

gilbwhite wrote:Please can anyone let me know if there is any agreement to the maximum number of hours of outdoor work in delivery ? I work 39 hours. Our office has not yet had the park and loop revision, so delivery spans are still 3.5 hours which is fine. However I have been told instead of double prepping and ISP sorting, I will be out delivering packets, which I would prefer not to do. Please post any agreement if there is one.
According to RM it is when you drop dead on your duty,By the way mail is down 25% again this week. :Very Happy

if you are in a van then their is no pouches over the shoulder

the only exception would be if you are delivering to a block of flats

you use the light weight trolly for van shares (park and loop)

How does that work, moving the van every 30-60 seconds doesn't seem feasable :hmmmm

A vanshare in our office involves two people, who park up, do a similar amount of work each, looping back to the van and then driving to the next point, rinse and repeat. This usually involves a pounch. Light weight trolleys have so far failed to make an appearence at this office.
