CWU members turned up to support the parents of toddler John-Paul Massey, who was mauled to death by a dangerous dog in 2009, as they handed a letter into Downing Street in protest at the lack of action on dangerous dogs laws.
The letter was co-signed by the Communication Workers Union and many of our campaign partners, including the RSPCA, Battersea Cats and Dogs Home, National Dog Wardens Association and the Police Federation.
The letter calls on Prime Minister David Cameron to give "urgent and immediate attention to the ongoing issue of dangerous dogs and dog control in England, on behalf of the children and adults who have lost their lives and the thousands of people who sustain injuries, often serious, as well as the animals who are attacked and killed every year."

Pictured are the four CWU Royal Mail members who made it along to the event. L-R: Health and safety rep Imtiyaz Chawan from Mount Pleasant, Peter Clements, area safety rep for Harrow and District branch, Brendan, a members of the CWU's South West London branch who delivers the mail to Downing Street, and Tim Shearer, area safety rep for North London branch.
Commenting on the event, CWU national health, safety and environment officer Dave Joyce (pictured with Luciana Berger MP) who has spearheaded the union's 'bite-back' campaign, said: "It was very moving to meet John-Paul's mother Angela and see the dignity and determination with which she's fighting for changes in the law.
"The problem of out-of-control dogs is a growing menace right across society and future tragedies can only be prevented if the Government faces up to its responsibilities and brings in the legislation we need," Dave explained.
"Consultation after consultation will only tell us what we know already. Mr Cameron pledged action two years ago - time to keep your promise Mr Prime Minister!"

Part of the joint letter to David Cameron states:
Eleven members of the public have been killed since 2006; seven of which were children and five were adults.
Now maths may not have been my strongest subject whilst I was at school 40 odd years ago. Surely 7 children and 5 adults equates to 12 members of the public have been killed since 2006.
On rechecking it transpires that there has indeed been 11 members of the public killed since 2006; it should however have read six of which were children and five were adults.
