PERSONAL INSULTS - SORRY NOT ON

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

Last night a few threads where hijacked and I received a few complaints so could I ask all members of this board to observe a few ground rules - this is a request from me as a Moderator and is not an official position from POSTMAN.

1. Please do not in any circumstances resort to name calling. (People thought I was guilty of that and I therefore apologise to them).

2. If you suspect anyone of trolling do not respond to their posts as this will only encourage them. Rather PM Postman or one of the Moderators.

3. If someone has a different position to you please respect their right to have differing views, and enjoy yourself when picking holes in their position in a constructive way

4. Try to make you criticism of a persons position constructive.

5. Try to research information before commenting on a persons position. This can be a grey area as one political stance on here is anti-manager and we cannot stifle a persons view on certain things just because we don't agree with it. However, those who hold these views should try to present them in a constructive way as possible.

6. The term scab is very emotive (something I could never understand) and posters are requested to use it in a non-derogatory manner. For example "When the strike breakers cross the picket line" would IMHO be ok, but "You are a scabby spineless ........" is not ok as it is personal.

7. Do not hijack threads for a flame war which is what happened last night.

8. Last point please remember everyone is welcome on this site. Customers, CWU Officers, Royal Mail Managers, all Royal Mail employees, the General Public and yes even MPs, so please do not resort to abuse when people of a different political persuasion or viewpoint post on a thread. I would much rather have a long winded well thought out argument picking out points in others positions, than a thread full of 1 line insults.

Maybe POSTMAN can set up an Octagon forum where we can go a beat the crap out of each other?

But point taken about not responding to certain people I'll try my best  not to.

i was saddened to read some of the comments left on the boards last night.
A considerable amount of time and effort has gone into establishing this forum,as a reputable source of information, and
a place where people can come to not only gauge opinion but express it freely too.
Many people within the industry will visit this site, not necessarilly making themselves known,or passing comment, and will
no doubt now question the intelligence and reliability of all concerned.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

My internet is seriously playing up and i keep getting bumped off line,i have locked 2 threads for the mo and will try and look at them tomm.
What Teebs has posted above is spot on and some users are taking liberties and threads are being hijacked,it has to stop.
In the future posts that are going or will look to make the thread too off topic will be deleted straight away.
Persistent offenders will be warned, regardles of who they are,or their status on the site.
And as for the abuse, some people seem to be taking the site's NON Zero tollerance too far!

Please read what Teebs has posted, and some of you need to be reminded that the site is ROYALMAIL CHAT which is for EVERYONE in the RM Group!

Also moved to News,cheersTeebs.

To sum up further it gives Hellmail and the other forum ammo to make this site look bad!

As I understand it, the culprit was a poster on that site and turned up here when its forum closed.

Ok Carla's back on,but she was more off because of my internet connection as i've explained to her.
On a normal day she wouldn't of been temp banned but as i had to look at the threads after some complaints and i kept getting bumped off line i had to as i was unsure with what was going on.
Gazza has made history as the 1st ban on the site,i think that if he was allowed back on i'm sure it would all kick off again, and we don't need the hassle.

This sort of stuff doesn't happen a lot so it's not a major problem, but i've used Teebs post and updated the rules.
Considering the amount of people on here and the amount of hits on it,it's not the most popular thread so i'll ask you all to have a shuftie at it and take in what it says

http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/forum/vi ... .php?t=103

Perhaps one slight problem is off topic posts or hijacked threads.
We are now seriously busy and we're also getting a load of new users as well,so shite posted in important threads is no good to anyone.
So can we keep this to a minimum please, you can use the Canteen Forum for what ever you want.

Cheers guys.
