Slightly different scenario.
If your paper or apple supplier screws you over you just tell them to do one and go somewhere else.
They already have an incentive to stay honest, the potential loss of business.
DSA companies have no incentive,we are stuck with them.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Its not just underdeclaring the number of items its the weight as well, particually with packets. Then there is the issue of them actually getting it to the right MC. There must have been at least 40 yorks of out of area DSA sat outside the RP office the last time I was there. They won't pay us to get it to the right place, but they can't be arsed to get it there themselves either :arrrghhh

No as they sell apples on weight, its also delivered/supplied on weight and there is no need to count it.

but at £2.66 for 500 sheets on a bulk buy of 20 boxes that works out at £0.005 each sheet on an under count. On DSA even if its as low as £0.13p each the scope for loss is greater by many factors.

I understand why they don't count every box, I would even understand if they only did a sample count on 0.1% - but I just don't understand the business principle of not checking any. Its commercial suicide.

TBT they do check and audit some and as result of two CWU officials from Brimingham who recorded how traffic was understated and that Royal Mail were losing revenue a new task force has been set up to check and has toughened up the counting and auditing of traffic but it is still a risk strategy which Royal Mail adopts.

Its a lot lower than building your plans on information from a customer with a vested interest in lowering the costs, under reporting volumes and one who publicly has stated that they wish to compete with us on actual delivery.

Running a business is by definition Risk Management and you have to weigh potential losses against potential gains, if you don't even consider auditing a small amount then you aren't managing risk - your ignoring it.

but they do sample it.

They take x amount of containers from y companies at the request of higher up.

If there are problems, the mail then gets put on hold (can't touch it, 50% chance it will be going back)

If there are major problems with one company nationally, then a 100% check is done nationally on all mail entering from that company.

MC's do refuse mail, for example at our MC about a month ago, a company submitted a docket for like 100 bags, they turned up with a full 45york trailer.

It's the same audit style they use for PPI.

I'm glad to hear that Talell ,I hope also if a shipment is delayed that they let the client whose actual mail it is know why it has been delayed. After all we have had outsiders with considerable

commercial experience brought in to RM, can they not make turn such situations round to rm's advantage ?
