She was careful not to use the phrase 'we WILL reduce stamp prices', only saying it was 'being looked at'.

Perhaps she should have told the Select Committee that it was RM'S 'overarching objective' to hold prices at Xmas 2011 levels. That would've fooled 'em

Royal Mail's press release yesterday said "Eligible people will be able to buy up to three books of 12 stamps - 36 stamps in total - in one purchase from any of the 11,801 Post Office branches. To receive the stamps at 2011 prices, people will need to provide evidence that they are in receipt of benefits, e.g. the Annual Updating letter or the Award Notice letter from the DWP. Royal Mail will write to every UK household later in the year explaining the scheme and how it works."

I agree that the company is in a terrible state.. But.... the quote above also highlights the problems of the early (must get finished ) starters. Is this not part of our downfall?

i agree with you sad posties who go in early, managment should'nt allow this to happen though. i thought they wanted you to work the hours your paid for, these idiots are getting back to office early so managment should make them go out with mail left in by other posties pherhaps this may stop them.
i would like to know how this is a true reflextion of the office. surley we should start at same time, not throw mail out till off the sorting. take ur 25 min break before you go out ( not work through it or just av 10 mins)

No he is not. He likes the 121 job so he can bully and intimidate his members to shut them up! He did not want to come to our office and I will lay money he and his fellow parasites won’t ask the membership how well they at HQ are doing? Why do you think they don’t come on RMC? Radom lets look at some facts , in late 2008 Royal Mail said that they would no longer pay for change and that there new business plan which included CDVs , Door to door into work load , geo route , walk sequencing , the one pass plan , closing mail centres RDCs. They were not going to pay for change.

The CWU then agreed that no revisons would be agreed at Local Level. Some offices kept this policy some did not. As a result of executive action by Royal Mail parts of Scotland , the whole of London and lots of other areas took strike action some from as early as March. At its height over 400 offices were taking strike action about the same number as delivery method revisons.

Finally the CWU ballot nationally and two national strike days were taken. Talks On an interim solution were almost in place until the news night exposure of Royal Mail's tactics , after that strike an interim agreement was reached on 5th November. Some of us had been out on 20 days of strikes over 4 months.

The national agreement was never going to stop the new workplan , the new one pass plan which makes it easier to close mail centres , stop sequencing mail , stop Royal Mail putting Door to Door into workload , introducing CDVs , and improving Productivity.

The CWU got the package including moving some colleague share money into the revisons and would have moved all of the colleague share money into the revison process had legal advice allowed it. Got a payment for Door to Door going forward that would increase in future years , agreed a 6 step process which has stalled Royal Mail in the amount of revisons they wanted to introduce. Now what would you have done differently please tell me ?

Now in terms of the pension issue , the final salary is now protected for all service past 2008 , you have a similar thing to a crown guarantee on your pension now and some of the assets have been set aside for the future pension , now of course in the future we might have to fight for our future pensions but if we had not got a resolution then our pensions would have been in serious trouble.
