MTSF

Post by baldrick »

RM are proposing to scrap the MTSF agreement for RM Letters, so don't count on it being recognised
in MDEC if we lose.

"MTSF
The current arrangements for managing surpluses are not appropriate for a commercial organisation
making change at the speed required in Royal Mail. From 1 April 2008, the MTSF agreement will no
longer apply to CWU represented grades in Royal Mail Letters and will be replaced with a process that
manages headcount in a commercial but sensitive way,"

It will probably be something like this " If you do not like it then fukc off
" if the kids are united we will never be divided "

In the proposals they put to the CWU, they want to raise the retirement age to 65 from 1 April 2010.
Close the current scheme to all new starters.
And "For all active members pensions will be calculated on the basis of CARE (Career Average Revalued Earnings),
indexed by the Retail Price Index limited to 5% each year."
- I don't know what that means, but I think it means that your pension would be based on your average earnings
over your career (limited to a 5% annual max increase?) rather than on your best year,
which is usually your last year in service. This would mean lower pensions for most,
the only exception being possibly people who have gone from full time to part time hours.

There does not seem to be any proposal (as yet anyway) to raise our pension contributions.

RM Pension Proposals

Post by baldrick »

1 Normal Retirement Age. The proposal will ask for comments on the proposal
that Normal Retirement Age will be increased to 65 on 1 April 2010.
Members will still be able to draw their pension at 60 if they wish and the
actuarial reduction will apply only to service accrued after 1 April 2010.

2 Change to Career Average Revalued Earnings (CARE). From 1 April 2008
benefits on retirement will be calculated in accordance with the Career
Averaged Revalued Earnings.

* Pension accrued up to 1 April 2008 will be indexed for future years
by the Retail Price Index (up to a maximum of 5% for each year)

* For each year of pensionable service after 1 April 2008, pension
will be based on the pensionable earnings for each year, indexed by
the Retail Price Index (up to a maximum of 5% for each year) and
averaged.

[a more precise formula will be included in the consultation document]

[quote="La"]I'd like a better sick policy. The current one is crazy bananas. Particularly if you need an operation. I don't think anyone who needs an operation should be punished at work for it by it counting towards their sick record. If you need an operation you need an operation, you should get sympathy not a stage warning ;)
I'd like all keyers to take part in marking TRUI as well as I think marking it improves your keying skills and it should be used as a coaching aid, so everyone understands the rules better.
And I'd like more pink cakes.

how can you seriously say what you we need a new sick policy when you did not back the strike, the attendance procedure is part of the dispute too! so by scabing in my view you should be given what you are given!!
The only way to change policy is by backing your union and getting involved locally, if you have views which you do, get on your committee, or put a motion to your agm for conference!
The issues we are all now facing whether opg or la are the biggest we have ever faced in my 27 years as a postman/cwu rep, and you must support the strike, and if you want change things you mentioned the sick absence procedure, then back the union ,and put your views forward to your reps and committee, but if you want change and then you go and scab, how are you going to achieve anything, if we all did that royal mail would have everything that they want to implement!!!!!

Postbox mate, you might as well talk to a brick wall than try to persuade a scab to see sense :arrrghhh :d'oh!
