Singing postman's hitting all the right notes

He is known by residents on his rounds as the singing postman.

And now Walsall father Nathan Farrell is dreaming of making it big in the music world after reaching the regional finals of a top talent contest.

The 26-year-old, of Bloxwich, says he is rarely without his MP3 player as he goes about his rounds and is fast getting a reputation as the singing postman. “A lot of people say to me ‘oh you’re very cheery today’, when they hear me singing,” said Nathan, of Church Road.

“But I just love it, I really enjoy singing.”

Nathan is in the regional finals of the Britain Does Variety show, which will be held at The Crescent Theatre, in Birmingham, on April 14.

If he manages to impress the judges, he could win a place at the national finals at the O2 arena.

Nathan has been singing since the age of around 16 and has been a postman for eight years.

After performing in clubs and pubs around the area, he is now thinking big and says it would be his dream to make it in the industry.

“I sing quite a lot of older stuff like Elton John, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and some soft rock too,” he said.

“It would be a dream come true to actually become a singer.”
