this is really good advice i did this with my p@l partner and we sorted out the loops a lot better now there not more than a couple of minutes between us also helps when ones on leave as you know both loopsfeduppostie wrote:twobags can you drive?
(innocent question)
if you can then may I suggest that you ask to rotate the driving duties?
ie one week he drives next week you do
that has been a very simple equaliser in our office as it lets both parties see exactly what the other is doing![]()
and is a reasonable request if one party thinks the other is doing less/more and adds to the skills register in the office should anyone go sick

Why have you asked for advice and then when people give it you call them names. If you don't want to read opinions of other people or accept that they may have a different view to you then why ask in the first place. To call them names is immature, he may have wound you up, but that does not excuse poor manners.

Sorry I don't see what he said as a slur, in fact I see it just as an observation. Whether its applicable to you or not only you can say.
A slur is to talk about disparagingly or insultingly, to say that most people in RM and the world look at things from a selfish point of view and including you, and by default most people on here (me included) is neither.
My censure was not meant to "help". You transgressed a rule by using an abusive term, I had to judge what the appropriate action was. The action I took was to address the rule breach nothing further.
I am sorry if you're at your wits end but that neither affects my actions or the advice given. Its up to you to take the advice on board and take action, or not if you think that advice is invalid in your situation, you can even explain why the particular advice is unhelpful, but using abuse because you're offended where no offence was meant is not on in any situation.

Re: park and loop advice needed asap
In our office most walks are 16 loops with only 2 loops shorter by about 8 minutes to allow the driver to do specs and oversized packets, not every loop.I'm not really a fan of building in 10 minutes a loop for large packets.
On a 6 loop delivery that's an hour to do what,on an average day in my D.O. is around 6-8 oversized packets.
A bit of a piss take really, like twobags says...what does the driver do if he has no packets?
I just bet he helps out his mate.

the tough luck is your driver is rushing round to try and get an earlier finish, if you take your time and work to your time he is the one who is rushing for nothing as he is not going to get finished any earlier than you, all his rushing about is only going to do is give him time waiting for you to come back, and personally i dont think working your hours and only your hours at your own pace is banging your head against a brickwall unless of course your wanting him to take on some of your work load so you both can get back to the office earliertwobags wrote:dont see any tough luck in it ,zx135 wrote:twobags wrote:is this a wind up or are you really david cameron :dcfo difference is at the end of the shift one of us looks like they just done a marathon the other a stroll in the parkzx135 wrote:my point is what difference is it if he is getting time to have six cig breaks or not, as long as you have sufficient time to complete your duty correctly within your hours then what otehr people are doing shouldnt bother you, if he is running and cutting corners taking short cuts etc dont worry about it as your only having to work your hours and if you need to then cut off, dont stress out what other people are or are not doing just do your job properlytwobags wrote:i dont get your point mate read what the thread is about its about trolly and carry its about having a buddy who takes the piss ,its about about lack of support from royal mail and the cwu rep as for the loops on at least 2 there is a difference of more than 5 one more than 20 mins also the drivers loops are not meant to be shorter on all loops only some. he gets time for at least 6 cigarettes and a lunch break i dont get one ,like i say read the postzx135 wrote:in that case are you able to complete your duty in your time?twobags wrote:yes my loops are longer ive no problem with that but by the third loop he has no larger packets left to deliver but i still may in my bagszx135 wrote:just a point maybe about the loops and timing, you do realise that the drivers loops are meant to be planned as shorter than the passangers loops? ie driver should be around roughly 35min per loop and passanger around 45 min per loop that is to enable driver to get back to van and deliver the large packets for BOTH of the loops in that roughly spare 10 Minutes or so
no its not a wind up, being quite serious, just take your time and do your job properly then doesnt matter what other person is doing if he has to wait for you then thats his tough luck[ cruise control six days a week every week]
where im
4 or 5 days a week
sorry sadly there isnt a smillie icon bent over taking it up the ar** for me to attach to this post there should be one

MY COMMENT WAS A GENERAL OBSERVATION THAT MOST RATIONAL PEOPLE WOULD ASSUME TO BE THE CASE.
However i apologise if it offended you in any way ,shape , or form.
but now we have come to the crux of the matter..
you cannot drive i assume by your reply.therefore you fail to see that the driver has a work related skill set that you donot have.
thus he is not your equal.Your are not suffer inequality .if you could drive your situation would remedy itself by rotating the driving.
again ,he may be sat in the van curseing you that hes always waiting for you and you get the same money as him with less skills.
its all based on peoples perceptions of reality.which was my original observation..

you assume wrong as with your peoples perceptions. the crux of the problem is not based on skills its based on a collegue willingly dumping on another ,i do the job as supposed to he carries , the problem arose because one day last week i said i was going to carry like him which upset him as it meant he would have to do more of the packets which he felt unfair ,if he started using the trolley no probs ,his perception was i had two bags fill them to the max he didnt want the change so has been ackward since ,i dont mind i have the longer loops and that i get a larger percentage of knock ons i wont comment on the presumptions made threads seem to go off the beat and track, you dont know me as i dont know you generalisations are not ideal to attach to anyone some used i dont like ,on the other hand you can call me allsorts and i wont bat an eyelid ,but at the moment what you have said has pushed all the buttons on me that will make me react ,rationality doesnt come into it assumption is the mother of all cock upsMilitantdave wrote:MY COMMENT WAS A GENERAL OBSERVATION THAT MOST RATIONAL PEOPLE WOULD ASSUME TO BE THE CASE.

Re: park and loop advice needed asap
I'm not sure what to make of this one. I know it happens, as it's all over our office. The whole idea of this p and l system is that you load the trolley and take everything on your loop - Mail, Packets, Specials. Now if you're not delivering any of the packets/parcels on his loops, and you still feel you're delivering more than him, it's just bad luck; people ordering more stuff on your half of the duty than his.
You've got to stop trying to keep pace, and coming in early. If that's how he wants to work, it's up to him. So long as you're working at a good pace, that's all you need. He can't return to the office without you, so sooner or later he'll get the idea that if you're behind, then he'll have to help you out. You need to also be looking at having at least 20 minutes after 4 hours work.
Do not rotate the driving unless you've done the change over. The suits will turn a blind eye while it works for them, but as soon as you have an accident your fired.
