Dear Mr Cann,
Re: Freedom of Information Request (Our Reference: KFEN-8SEC3J)
I am writing in response to your recent request for information dated 14 March 2012
which has been considered under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. You
requested the following information:
1. Has Royal Mail ever had legal proceedings taken out against it for delivery of "Door to
Door" items against the wishes or will of customers?
2. Has Royal Mail ever had legal proceedings taken out against it for delivery of "Door to
Door" items when a specific simple notice not to deliver such items is clearly displayed at
an address?
3. Would the individual delivery operative be personally liable for any such occurrence
when delivering "Door to Door" items in this way?
4. Do Royal Mail regulations class "Door to Door" items that advertise the same as
important information, such as water repairs, council info etc.?
5. What are these regulations?
In response to points one and two of your request I can confirm that no records are held
by Royal Mail’s Legal Department concerning any legal proceedings related to the Door to
Door product.
Further, in regards to points two and three of your request if a customer does not wish to
receive Door to Door items they must opt out of the service by completing an official opt
out form. Instructions regarding how to opt out of receiving unaddressed items can be
found on our website, http://www.royalmail.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Royal Mail would still deliver unaddressed
items if the customer had a sign in their window but had not officially opted out. If a Postal
Officer did not deliver to the address and the customer has not officially opted out of the
service, they may face disciplinary action as this would be considered wilful delay of mail.
In response to points four and five of your request no regulations regarding the
classification of Door to Door material are held by Royal Mail. All items sent via this
product are treated the same and have the same priority.
I hope the information provided is useful to you. If for any reason you are not satisfied
with this response, you do have the right to request a review. If you wish to do so please
set out in writing your grounds of appeal and send to the Head of Information Compliance,
Royal Mail Group, Company Secretary's Office, 100 Victoria Embankment, LONDON, EC4Y
0HQ. An internal panel will then review the request, and you will be advised of the
outcome.
If you decide to appeal and are still not satisfied with our response you also have a right to
appeal to the Information Commissioner at:

Re: FOI Request on D2Ds
I'm sorry, but never, ever, in a million, zillion years, would I accept that failure to deliver a pizza hut leaflet, or one of the bearded pratts many, many, pieces of Virgin media shyte, was tantamount to "wilful delay of the mail." No way on God's earth.
Moya Greene, you old bag, want to make sure every piece of door-2-dustbin shyte gets delivered?
Then, deliver the shyte yourself, you old hag.

Re: FOI Request on D2Ds
I deliver all the shyte I'm forced to take out.
I still stand by what I say, door2dustbin shyte is not what a sane person would call mail.
It is shyte, always has been shyte, always will be shyte. Unloved, and unwanted, by 99.9% of the popuation of planet Earth.
That postal workers are put in a position where they could be sacked for failing to litter the nation's doormats, is typical of this lousy company.

If you feel that strongly about it then make a stand and refuse to deliver it.DirtyHarry wrote:Sorry, mail is mail, and door2dustbins are shyte, no if's, no but's, no maybe's. If delivering shite over the next few years till I retire, pays my wages, then I am happy to keep delivering it, and in this day and age, anything to keep people in work surely should be given a better title than shite.

I'm not convinced that bombarding people with a seemingly never-ending flood of shyte, works in the way they think it works.mazza111 wrote:It maybe shyte, but it must work or they wouldn't keep sending it.
Look at that bearded wierdo, Richard Branson. There is now more than one internet forum, purely dedicated to people mightily fed-up of constantly recieving his unwanted shyte.
If I was him, I would be a tad worried.
Anyways, if it works, why the constant, never-ending, stream of crap from guys like Branson? I mean, the twerp is like a muck-spreader out of control.

And, if delivering crap nobody wants, or more importantly, nobody has asked for, is one of the only ways in which this nation can keep it's people occupied, then this nation really, really, has lost it's way, bigtime.

Re: FOI Request on D2Ds
I totally agree with you dirty Harry it's pure rubbish nothing more and to those that say it keeps us our jobs rubbish that's why royal mail is shedding workers everywhere. It's pure profiteering nothing more that's why we don't get paid to deliver them anymore as management take all the money raised to pay their huge bonuses or buy more vans for park and loop schemes that we can't afford as a company anymore. They force this rubbish through people's doors to tarnish our reputation ready for privatisation. Nobody wants it why deliver it. They are a drain on time take an age to prep and deliver and make our jobs more difficult than it needs to be no wonder top management love them. I would rather take a pay cut than deliver them.

I must agree with you regarding that bearded wierdo, weighed it today, 20 Virgin Media envelopes totalling 900g to my house in just over a year.DirtyHarry wrote:I'm not convinced that bombarding people with a seemingly never-ending flood of shyte, works in the way they think it works.mazza111 wrote:It maybe shyte, but it must work or they wouldn't keep sending it.

- that's over 20,000 tons a year if it goes to all 29 million addresses, and all DSA too of course.
Should have stuck to records, and the sooner he looses his remaining train franchise the better.
Not quite all of it is shyte though, offers from another train company have been welcomed by a few people I know around here.
