Postage and delivery of London 2012 Olympics tickets will pr
Postage and delivery of London 2012 Olympics tickets will provide Locog with a headache http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/jmag ... -headache/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
London Olympic Games organisers are bracing themselves for a fresh barrage of criticism when the 2012 Olympic tickets are finally posted out to spectators in early June.
The tickets, which have been mired in controversy for more than a year, will continue to be a headache when the bulk – printed in the United States by Weldon, Williams and Lick – are shipped to a secure secret storage area and then distributed to the million purchasers in the UK.
For the lucky recipients, the person whose name was on the credit card used to buy the tickets may have to be at home to sign for the tickets.
But in most cases that person will be at work when the delivery arrives, creating delays, annoyance and for some, an extra cost.
The simple solution would be to have the tickets delivered to a work address, but London Olympic organisers (Locog) say they can only deliver to the address which matches the billing address on the credit card.
However Locog says that contrary to previous advice demanding that the card holder sign for the package, any person who answers the door will be now able to sign for the tickets.
For people who have moved address, for those who are away on holidays or those who want to enjoy the summer sunshine rather than wait for days for a delivery, the process will prove frustrating.
If no-one is at home the tickets will be returned to the local sorting office and the card holder will have to then have to produce identification to pick up the package.
Spectators have already paid £6 for delivery of the tickets, but Locog is insisting that they be securely delivered to prevent fraud.
The issue of potential public outcry has become such a concern it will be discussed during this week's International Olympic Committee final inspection in London.
Also being discussed is the overseas ticket allocation which is distributed through national Olympic committees around the world.
Thousands of tickets that have been returned by some of the NOCs have been redistributed to other overseas countries for high priced re-sale rather than being returned into the UK public allocation.
The next round of sales in the UK will include more than a million tickets for the ceremonies and all events except synchronised swimming and is expected to go on sale exclusively to those who have previously missed out at the end of April.

I take it we're not delivering them because all we do is deliver to the address.

So are we delivering them or is some guy driving around in his car throwing them everywhere............not that it'll matter to me, can't see many on my walk wanting to go (or even being able to afford the tickets).

"Spectators have already paid £6 for delivery of the tickets" - so that looks like Special Delivery, not Recorded.
"and then distributed to the million purchasers in the UK." - and a million of them

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
