not every office has a rep unfortunately. not every office is well organised unfortunately. not every office is willing to fight to make things, not better, but just plain work unfortunately

Information the top gets is only what the bottoms bothers to report, and in those dead areas without reps, you probably get nothing.

The union cannot know everything in its current mish mash non-centralised structure. Seriously, the communication in the communication workers union sucks.

With regards the new working relationship, there is a difference with being in cahoots with someone, and having a working relationship.

As long as we know when, and are brave enough, to tell them to stick it, I see nothing but good things about open communication between the 2 sides.

I know people on here said it was a set up but I thought Moya Greene today probably revealed more than a thousand WTL sessions or couriers. Thats not to say I agree with what she said.

She informed the meeting that Royal Mail have been the victim of th worst regulation of any postal company in the world. She went onto say that Royal Mail have the lowest price rates for letters in Europe and 85% of Royal Mails products are subject to price control and on the growth items like packets and parcels Royal Mail are still delivering these not to a profit.

She explained that what other postal in the world has been stitched up in the way Royal Mail has over DSA. On one hand the competitor can capture mail which we cannot compete with and them force Royal Mail to deliver this to home address and the competitors have now captureed 50% of this mail and Royal Mail made a lost on delivery DSA by 120 million last year.

Equally she said that the quality targets set by the regulator ate the worst in the world , not only do Royal Mail have to deliver 59 million items per week to 29 million addresses but have to do this quality wise 93% by next day and without any verification that the independent quality control is accurate. Last year this meant that Royal Mail had to be paid 7.5 million in compensation for this alone.
:chuckle You must be kidding, "informed" :chuckle even the guy who tops up the plastic cups for our DO water geyser knew all that :chuckle
She also revealed she was told by Off Com on Friday that TNT have applied and been given a licence to deliver to addresses on the final mile in Chelsea , Earling , Fulham and Kensignton from August and they have stated within 4 years they want to serve 40% of Urban households. TNT only want to deliver one one or two days per week and only profitable mail.
That is interesting from a free market /level playing field point of view. Surely they can't tie one firm to the USO and set all the others free to cherry pick the motherloads
Whilst the Postal services act says it will keep the USO for 10 years , it does conflict with the European directive on allowing more competition

She praised the CWU for the campaign to secure pensions and she says that pensions are now secured.

She also stated that this company cannot succeed without working with the CWU and building a better working relationship which won't be easy giving the history of poor relationships.
I've got news for Moya, It's happening now and there is only one side breaking the agreement.

However she stated in terms of delivery transformation this has been the most differcult. She said that 339 delivery method revisions had been introduced and out of those 100 are still not working and she wanted to personally resolve them if necessary.
She will be busy. Come to my office and witness the breach of process;misinformation;blatant attempts to break the agreement. A revision process blighted by management acts of bad faith from the very start, someone gave them the green light, how high does it go? Who is in charge?
She said there was no going back on things like delivery method CDVs as the mix of mail is changing , stamp mail is decreasing whereas packets and parcels are increasing and there are currently 50 other players nationally dealing with delivering parcels and packets and of comm is going to allow Royal Mail to be more competive in terms of pricing and clearly shows the direction of where Royal Mail see deliveries going in the future.

She said that effiency in Royal Mail have been good over the last 7 years and 50 000 jobs have been lost but compared to other mail organisation it had a long way to go. For example the Dutch Post Office now has hardly any full timers and the average contract of a part timer is 9 hours.

She said Royal Mail's ambition must be to get automation in to do packets and parcels.

She supported privatisation and pointed out under public ownership over the last 10 years Royal Mail have been starved of finance and capital , had unfair competition , lost 50 thousand jobs.

Moya stated that she inherited the colleague share scheme and it was a totally flawed scheme and she would have never sanction such a scheme as a company cannot known where there cost base would be in. 5 years and she was in talks with the union over giving a share a the profits but on a yearly basis not some flawed scheme.
[/quote]
:chuckle She must have done better than that surely ,laughably bad

One word propaganda my friends , this is all to soften the members up into thinking privatisation is needed si we royal mail can compete ,next they will be saying we need private money to safeguard your jobs .total BS ,at the point when privatisation raises it's ugly head members will be so worried about losing there jobs slot won't have the heart and desire to fight . Brainwashing as begun and it will carry on until they get there own way .she never mentioned the huge bonus she and her friends got if the company on that bad state she should have done the honourable thing and refused it . One rule for them and one for us .don't be fooled .

the chief executive has now said that 100 offices out of 373 delivery method revisons are not working.
Shouldn't the union know this anyway?
Jenson says this,Jenson says that,it doesn't matter what he says,it should be what the union knows!
You are absolutely spot on postman. It gets tiresome hearing the usual pundits quoting Royal Mail say this, Royal Mail say that, we are having a JOINT love fest to determine why things are going wrong.................FFS how many times do they need telling by the very people who DO the job that the basic premise of the tools agenda is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG - if one third of revisions have failed out of a miserable 373 from a total of 1500 over two years...........even a bloody idiot can see that BT2010 is a failure.

The union should NOT be listening to Royal Mail, it should gather information from its own resources and listen to the membership WHO ACTUALLY PAY THEIR WAGES AND PENSIONS.

I'm not convinced TNT need a licence or anybody else for that matter .Licensing went out with Postcomm ,as long as you meet the criteria as a private delivery company you can start one with no licence needed. Most of what else she stated is pretty much stating the obvious. We all know RM has been handicapped in relation to the opposition and we all know the various reasons why.

She is a snake in the grass.
No union worthy of the name, would co-operate in that charlatan's plans for us.

Anyway, let's stand back and watch, as the ineffective CWU continues it's shameful collaboration with Royal Mail's unscrupulous bosses.
