Boring now (personal opinion-sorry) can't we bring back the car using threads, that was always a good argument for screwing ourselves over.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The same place that having twenty less delivery points on any given day would go - depending on where the ten minutes saved takes us, it is a slightly earlier finish or a lesser charge to Royal Mail for extended delivery - either way it is slightly less physical effort for me and that is no bad thing - I hope that is a reasonable answer to a quite reasonable question :)fishtank wrote:rhino49 wrote:we finish off the smaller areas with bags on the shouldder and take advantage of all the walking shortcuts that a trolley would add 10 minutes to - it's common sense and comfortable to do, only being about 10% of the complete route.
Where does that 10 minutes saved from not using a trolley go rhino?
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

According to the tester in our office a bag can be carried on your shoulder if it is a security issue or due to the terrain the only way for delivery.
Our delivery has three blocks of flats were we carry the bag for the flats then walk back to the van and use the trolley for the rest of the loop.
We also have a 10 story block of flats that has a lift,we park in the car park and use the lift and walk down the stairs.Using the lift with the trolley would be impossible.I also have a street on a steep hill with long driveways with access between each delivery point. It's impossible to take the trolley up the stairs and would leave my trolley un attended and easy to steal. We use our trolleys on the rest of our loops.

I've been told the same thing, there are a few steep streets on my round I did try to use the trolley originally but the street in question when wet becomes like an ice rink I slipped backwards and landed on ...yeah you guessed the trolley.
Refused to use the thing on those streets in question after that, instead i use the Van as like a mobile pouch box and carry little at a time.
The Planner told me only recently I am allowed to use a bag on shoulder if the terrain dosen't allow for use of them for various reasons but it has to be one of the smaller bags and not the large old one's we used to use.
