But sand goes with oil, camels and palm trees, and Arab countries seem to have more than their fair share of all these. :Very Happy
And you couldn't bury your head in a sand pit like that.
Sand also comes with Kangaroos, dingos, snakes, nuclear test sites and the odd white fella going bush - don't sound very Arabian to me.
Indeed, you must have broader horizons than me, a man of the world no doubt. :Very Happy

Don't get him started, he'll have a bucket of sand, start the light swinging, get his old WW11 steel helmet out and start telling us his old campaign tales - they usually begin with "when I was in" :chuckle :chuckle

No, but,
Sandie Shaw wasn't the real name of Sandra Ann Goodrich, Goodwich thought to be an Essex derivation of sandwich, :Very Happy and
John Montagu, born in 1718, succeeded his grandfather as Earl of Sandwich in 1729 and spent some time in travelling, initially going on the Grand Tour round Continental Europe before visiting the more unusual destinations of Greece, Turkey and Egypt, part of the Ottoman Empire and countries with a lot of sand, but no Greggs's which is why he invented the sandwich. :Very Happy - see, it pays to take an interest in history lessons when at school. :Very Happy

We had a history teacher who was unable to pronounce the letter "r" but replaced it with the "w" sound.
We spent most of our history lessons getting him to talk about the ranks held by various famous military people.

How off topic can we get?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

What you didn't try to get him to discuss the Red Eyebrow Rebellion and the Green Forest Rebellion

Because they wouldn't have involved him using the word "wank" repeatedly.

However I feel this is too little too late and the only way the playing field will be evened is upon the sell off and privatisation whereupon the new operators will cry and claim they cannot run a service under these restrictions. Then the dsa agreement will be scrapped and you can sit back and watch the profits pile up. :no no

Of course Joe public ( and MP’s) will all say that its due to private industry and how lazy the Postal workers were before they sold it. :arrrghhh
DSA will never go, that's like BT not allowing any rival companies to use it's phone lines. Our delivery network is no different to BT's phone line network in the eyes of politicians, the problem is you don't pay a phone line an hourly wage which is why we are losing money hand over fist but BT isn't.
