from 19/03/12 new income PAYABLE, SHF38 ??

on my payslip today i had this on my messages

your new pay number from 26 marchis xxx xxxxx. NEW PAY GRADE OPG00 OPG PROVINCIAL HOURS CHANGED TO 39.00

NEW INCOME SHF 38 PAYABLE FROM 19/03/12 ????

all i can think of is that this is somthing to do with my professional drivers money that is incorporated into my basic pay when they took the 600s of us and i lost my duty three years ago.

even though i am attached to a delivery office i do not get the delivery supplement (house hold money each week) but do get the professional drivers allowance

ANY IDEAS ON THIS SHF 38 ON MY WAGE SLIP

Apparently,when we have our new pay numbers and change over to the new PSP thing it lists all allowances separately on our slips.

Also shouldn't you get the DS as well?

thats the problem

i do not get the ds, even though i am attached to a delivery office

at the moment the professional drivers money is incorporated into my basic pay, not a seperate allowance

i heard whispers that they were going to put me back onto basic opg salary, pay me back all the ds money owing and pay the difference from basic pay to professional drivers pay via an allowance.

it then seems a win win situation

i get back all the ds owing and keep my same pay as it will be made up by an allowance.

but what is to stop royal mail sometime in the future removing this allowance and i am then left with basic pay.

while the professional drivers money is part of my basic pay, they cant touch it, but it seems they are doing this change without my agreement so god help them if its true

You've just transferred to PSP, thus the new pay number.

Your grade is now OPG, on a 39 hour contract.

SHF38, beats me.

Your basic pay is now OPG rate instead of MGV (7.5T driver).

You should be getting pay protection under MTSF (probably SHF38) to make up the difference between MGV and OPG, since I'm guessing you elected to move down when the duties disappeared.

Since you lost it 3 years ago, you should be losing your pay protection sooner rather than later (depends on how long you held the money and iirc 3 years is the max length of time you can be pay protected).

What should have happened is, the second you lost the driving duty, you should have been regraded appropriately (in this case, made OPG), and given a weekly supplement protecting your pay (your basic would be that of an OPG but your pay would be equal, and as pensionable, as before)

Over time this supplement should degrade (iirc been awhile since I read MTSF) until it stops, as pay protection is to wean you to your new rate of pay.

Delivery supplement should be accounted for by pay protection (to put it simply pay protection = the difference in value of 2 jobs, i.e. if I was moved off of a job with allowances equal to £40, to one with £10, I would be paid £30 in pay protection).

tl;dr Call your area rep. RM are finally fixing their screw up, just make sure they aren't going to pull the "give us £4500 you owe us now or else" nonsense

i did not elect to move down, for a start this change of removing the 7.5 ton duties was compulsory and forced on about six members of staff

i myself am still on reserve as i have never signed for a duty since they took the 7.5 ton duties away from me

i realise if i elected to sign for another duty then i would be agreeing to the change but i did not

the professional drivers money is incorporated in my wages as BASIC PAY and not as an ALLOWANCE

so how can royal mail remove that without my agreement even under MTSF as it must be classed as unlawful deduction of wages

To put it simply you should have just walked out when you found out you were not being handled under MTSF.

However, what's done is done.

You should be getting paid full MGV wage and appropriate driving allowance, since it was an involuntary move, and you are correct in your assumption that if you signed for a OPG job, your MGV rate would be forfeit.

To put it simply, you have been grandfathered MGV rate, so the status quo should apply until you make a move otherwise.

Changing your wages like they have above is not acceptable, and should be reported to your area rep asap.

i contcted headquarters as i was not at all happy.

i could not get my head around royal mail just changing my wages (basic pay) without consultation.

hq informed me that it is unlawful as expected to in effect down grade wages and replace with an allowance.

HQ told me if necessary to put in a stage 1 disagreement which i handed to my dom today.

the result of that was the s^&t hit the fan with phone call going backwards and forwards.

what was decided was that i revert back to the opg grade but remain under contract to the mgv grade and my wages stay the same. thats with current driving allowance

i stated i expected the status quo remains until until i had every thing in writing which they neglected to do to begin with, and that i will decide on the next course of action and i will put my disagreement on hold for 7 days

what realy stinks is that they thought they could change my pay without statutory notice or consultation.

just an update

if my wages have changed where they have alltered my basic pay with an allowance when i get my wage slip on thursday,

a STAGE 1 DISAGREEMENT will be submitted

received my wage slip and nothing has changed except my new pay number
