We have been told we are starting on the 8th october the later starts.
The union has a go this morning at the dom for not talking with the union.
What the dom says, all the drivers, rurals, town walks start at 5am.They will cut and tip and sort until 6am
Then the rest start at 6am.
The drivers, rurals, and town walks wont have to wait for the missort van
i told my dom i wont be able to work on sat until 1pm as hubby goes to work at 10.30am( i have 3 kids, 12, 2 and 3)
He says he cant help.
He says today, those that have trouble with the later working has to put it in writing, and has a interview.
there are a lot of people with kids, and people who do footie on saturday.
Its going to get nasty, ready for the steel helmets and duck lads!!!!!!!
Nice to see royal mail remember their family friendly duty ? oh maybe not, all we need to do is get every body to write a letter and complain that should f*ck em up for a while

I think the phraseology they used was "try to accommodate" which in our speak means bog off - they will fight this tooth and nail because to allow one is to open the floodgates. It will be interesting to see if "family friendly" is going to be applied fairly across the whole of RM or if it's going to be every man for himself. For example ray of sunshine has 3 children 1 of school age and 2 not, soooooooooo whatever the combination of ages and number of children there could be a formula applied - plus individual circumstances such as married, single shared parenting etc.
This can get involved. I took Equal Ops training as well as I.R. A single postie could make a good case of discrimination - a damn good one! We must use all weapons to fight!
Outer London Rep - Solvitur Ambulando - Nunquam Ubi Sub Ubi
There are people that were moved onto the the night shift in our office under family friendly. What are they supposed to do now? Everyone has filled out a letter to say they are unhappy about later starts and want RM to negotiate with the union.
we handed in letters of rejection in our office last week so whats the score what happens next i am assuming that the 8 th of oct no longer applies to our office as most the workforce have rejected it so by law we must be given more notice am i right
1 - If RM want to change your start times they need to give "statury written notice" (Letters due tomorrow.)
2 - If you agree to the changes, they have to give you 4 weeks notice.
3 - If you dissagree with the changes being imposed upon you RM have to give you "1 weeks notice for EACH year that you have been employed - UP TO A MAX OF 12 WEEKS "
4 - After the relevant notice has been served you can leave your job - and sue for "constructive dismissal" OR you can coninue to work "UNDER PROTEST" and retain the right to sue for "constructive dismissal" ( BUT if you work for too long under the new arangements you lose the right to sue because you have been deemed to have accepted the new arangements" )
If EVERYONE puts in a LETTER to their DOM, we could at least delay the starts for 12 weeks !
And you as a group/Branch could do the second part of 4
If you feel strongly enough about later starts, you will take notice of all this.
is this law or is it been negotiated with the union within the ir frame work can they tell us to sod off with the letters of rejection or do they need to give us longer notice periods
well we got our answer today and it was sod off this is not law they said they gave us notice out of good will and they also said that they have listened to our opions and tried best to accomadate us
that was my reply to our manager i asked who he had listened to and who the feck had he accomadated by changing the times he must be listening to the voices in his head
Can you tell me as i am unsure, agreeing means that they need to give u 4 wks notice. If i have 4 yrs service and disagree does that mean they still have to just give me 4 wks notice or is it 4wks for disagreeing and on top the normal 4 wks making a delay of 8wks
they will give you 4 weeks and that is all they dont have to give you that as this is a good will gesture on the part of royal mail if you dissagree by letter they will reply to you by letter saying that they have listened to you but nothing changes
