The vehicle was parked in Edinburgh when it was broken into and the items were stolen.

A bag of post and two Royal Mail jackets have been stolen from a postman’s car.

The vehicle was parked on West Pilton Avenue in Edinburgh between 11.30am and 12.45pm on Tuesday.

When the 34-year-old returned he found it had been broken into and the jackets and mail had been taken.

Lothian and Borders Police are worried the jackets could be used to to pose as Royal Mail employees in a bid to gain entry to houses.

A police spokesman said: "These items have no significant financial value. However, the mail could be of a personal nature and the clothing may allow the suspect to pose as a Royal Mail employee.

"Anyone who witnessed this incident or who saw anything suspicious in the West Pilton Avenue area yesterday morning is asked to contact police immediately.

"The public is also reminded to ask for identification from anyone requesting access to your property.

"Always check with the company they claim to represent if you are uncertain and if you're still not satisfied, then call the police."

Anyone with any information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Guaranteed that his managers will deny all knowledge of him using his own car.

Its okay he might have a perfect defence as there appear to be a spatial tear appearing in the fabric of space on that particular road. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=West+Pi ... 6,,0,12.13" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Pilton was one of the roughest areas in Edinburgh.
It has been regenerated at considerable cost.

I always thought it was odd they picked Hollyrood to site the Parliament building. Went drinking in a pub round there (years prior to the nobs setting up shop) full of students, gay folk, goths and the gnarliest looking neds from the scheme next door all rubbing along together nicely. I want to say it was the H Tavern but seeing it these days i dont think its the same place. Mind you i was canny blootered.

It is possible he had permission,had filled in all the documentation and the mail was stored in the locked boot in which case he wouldn't be sacked.
I wouldn't have much money on it though. :neutral:
