It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Pay increase
What do you mean by continuously ?
Is it working avery day ?
One shift per week?
being on Angard book as a casual byut not getting shift every week?
Bit confusing .

Re: Pay increase
It is working at least one shift with the hirer (Royal Mail) per week. There is a document link in this thread http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... uk#p454924" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; on the bis.gov.uk website that has details on how the 12 week qualifying period is determined.

Re: Pay increase
Thanks for posting this. I'll print off the document referred to and to give it to some of the other people I'm working with. Several of us started on the same day and we've all been paid different amounts. I was paid an enhanced rate for the first week I qualified, then the following week it went back down to £6.08. Yesterday's pay slip it was back to £10.49 again. Another person was still paid £6.08/£6.58 for the first week, second week he got £10.32 (?) for day shift but still £6.58 for nights. Third person no increase at all. You would have thought that Angard could have got it sorted by now!Verging wrote:It is working at least one shift with the hirer (Royal Mail) per week. We have various pay rates throughout the day depending on when you start and finish. We have a basic day then shift allowances dependent upon start/finish times and duration. At my mail centre we get different rates (or shift allowance) for:eglantina1 wrote:Verging wrote:It is working at least one shift with the hirer (Royal Mail) per week. Three hours across 2300 and 0500

Re: Pay increase
Why is everything related to Angard/Angreed so bloody complicated? For a company that couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery, they go that extra mile to make everything more problamatic! Sorry I was using my brain & thinking then! I was once told by a manager (not RM) that I was paid to do, not think!

Angard have to follow the pay shifts/structure that Royal Mail have so have no choice but to make it complicated.Britvic55 wrote:Why is everything related to Angard/Angreed so bloody complicated? Re: Pay increase
I appreciate the pay rise but since I have no access to a slide rule/cray computer or an advanced degree in mathematics I gave up halfway down Verging's time chart (sorry!
)
Anyway since qualifying for AWR (date a guess but lools like 20th Jan nothing from Angard with new rates etc)
I have worked a 5 hour shift 17:00 to 22:00 each night Mon to Fri (when the works available). My hourly rate has been £9.40 then £10.69 and on my latest payslip £11.27 is a length of service pay rise taken on a weekly basis?

I have not yet qualified for AWR. I work 16:30 to 21:30 and get £6.08 ph. I am not holding my breath for a £5.19 ph increase when week 13 arrives!

Re: Pay increase
You will get an increase on week 13! Not sure how long you have got to go just keep an eye on it and email Angard if you think you have reached your qualifying period. Things have settled down since Christmas and I presume that many arses have been kicked! Just goes to prove the power of these forums.

Re: Pay increase
I had to get Angard to tell the mail centre I had qualified. My mail centre couldnt/wouldnt work out I had qualified and were not going to do anything unless Angard told them. Unfortunately, because they failed to pay anyone at our mail centre for the first week I qualified, I had to wait for 3 weeks before I knew they hadnt recognised I had qualified and was still being paid 6.08 and they still removed my break times. I am still fighting for my first, second and third week of AWR paid to me at the correct rate and with paid for breaks.markadam1962 wrote:You will get an increase on week 13! Re: Pay increase
I am a bit confused as to why you were waiting on your mail centre ? As far as I know the only job the mail centre has to do with your wages is to let angard know how many hours and when you worked. Is there something I am missing in the process ?Verging wrote:I had to get Angard to tell the mail centre I had qualified. As for the increase in rates ...
Nothing had appeared to change in my pay rate after week 16 until I rang them ( angard ) to discuss it , i did try emailing previously but got no reply after 3 weeks so figured a direct call would be better. The lady on the phone confirmed I had reached the qualifying period and would note it on my file etc.
The following week my pay was increased to the higher amount ( 9.40 ) with breaks still removed etc but the week after it dropped back down to the old rate.
I rang them up again and asked them a few questions , back dated pay increase , paid breaks , shift allowance , hourly rate etc and was told yes it would be back dated and the rest they would have to look into and get back to me as they were not sure about.
A day or so later I got a call saying 9.40 was indeed the correct rate , not entitled to shift allowance ( which I thought would be the case anyway )and breaks would still be unpaid which I was a little surprised about to be honest.
The following weeks pay was indeed correct at 9.40 an hour and also included the back dated increase for the previous weeks.
I will say though that last week and this week my hourly rate seems to have increased again from 9.40 an hour to 11.06 an hour so I am a little bemused as to why. I dont really want to end up owing them money so I asked angard today if 11.06 was correct or not. Again I was told they were not sure and would get back to me so will post what they say when and if they ring back.

Re: Pay increase
The mail centre provides information on when you worked, duration and a rate of pay, for each period worked, based on what both Royal Mail and Angard call a Ratecard (different dependent upon place of work, when worked etc). Angard take that information and process it for your pay - they do not decide any of this - just process. Before AWR the Mail centre subtracted our breaks - not Angard. They need to stop subtracting breaks and give correct rate for each time you work. If they are not told you are AWR qualified, by Angard, they will continue to provide pre-AWR rates (6.08 and 6.58) as rate of pay and continue removing your breaks.Richard1971 wrote:I am a bit confused as to why you were waiting on your mail centre ? Why is it all so complicated???!!!!
Have anyone ever been given, in writing, a proper breakdown of the proper pay rates after having worked 12 weeks? The Angard staff at the Mail Centre where I work seem to get paid anything between about £9.70 to £10.90 for the same work. Some weeks I've done one night shifts and a couple of late shifts, but on the pay slip I've just been paid one hourly rate. Presumably we should still be paid more for nights. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
