Our office went through all this. Managers bullying us to complete. Infact they got rid of our dom, and som, bought in a new pair, plus new managers who were in to bully everyone. Timing us with a watch as you sort, bullying you, taken in the office if you cut off. Things got really bad. We've had a few sacked or conducted to keep the more vocal or determined people who wanted to work to time. Now we're facing 5hr deliveries. Trolleys you can forget about cause you'll be all day. All this and we even got a visit from cwu HQ and nothing changed.

There must be a few divisional reps or even PEC members on here incognito, they only ever seem to pop up and spout on about how well hq have done for us and what a great deal the 2010 agreement was, but they never comment on why hq cant resolve the bullying we face on a daily basis.

HQ promised us that B&H would be addressed with a new relationship as part of the 2010 agreement, that agreement is 2 years old and now all they carp on about is the soon to be new relationship model. :left: It wouldn't be so bad if we had a relationship in the first place, I suppose the new idea is going to take another 2 years, in the meantime the membership suffers and HQ wonder why we don't have faith in them and they are losing members hand over fist.

Bullying and Harassment

Conference unanimously carried the following motion:-

This conference condemns the misapplication of the bullying and harassment procedure and the corrupt investigations in a number of cases manufactured against the CWU in the workplace, most noticeably in Burslem. These actions are nothing more than union busting tactics being deployed by Royal Mail to target areas of poor industrial relations.

This conference is committed to protecting each workplace from bullying and harassment and agrees the following;

•That a review be conducted at a national level, independently chaired, into the attacks against the CWU in the workplace by Royal Mail carried out under the guise of bullying and harassment.
•That a fundamental review of the bullying and harassment procedure be conducted to achieve;
◦a role for the CWU at the earliest point and a role throughout and not just at the conclusion of a Royal Mail investigation.
◦contact made at Divisional Level immediately when a complaint is made against a CWU Representative or when consideration is being given to a formal investigation against a Representative.
■An end to the corrupt sham of so called ‘independent’ harassment investigators, who are nothing other than Royal Mail managers from a different location, and a return to bullying and harassment issues being dealt with in the workplace by the appropriate manager and CWU Representative.
■Launch a bullying and harassment awareness campaign amongst the membership highlighting Royal Mail’s union busting tactics.

The Postal Executive is instructed accordingly.

What's the date today?

Dave Ward letter to Mark Higson Oct 2009...
That Royal Mail agrees to an independent enquiry into the bullying and harassment of postal workers and immediately ceases the use of unagreed HR procedures.
Dave Ward Aug 2009...
Bullying and harassment is now reaching shocking levels as local managers are allowed to pick on individuals. Sackings occur at the whim of over-promoted managers trying to deliver unrealistic budget savings linked to unfair work rates which people can’t cope with.

This was part reason we went on strike in......2009.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

5. The interim agreement also includes commencement of a new project, which is committed to bring about positive workplace cultures in every office and improve long-term industrial relations to bring stability.
Again, this project will be supported by independent experts and will allow us to address the bullying culture that exists within the company.

Royal mail said f**k off.

• An agreed joint action plan to get all Business Transformation revisions back on track. Central to this and in line with the agreement is the need to finally ensure a fair and manageable workload for all employees. This means an end to the unacceptable managerial pressures being placed on our members on a daily basis.

We could do this all night. :whistle

Well there is a slight shift in the interpretation isn't there? Bullying and harrassment has now become "unacceptable managerial pressure" it doesn't sound quite as bad but really amounts to the same thing and the resulting action to rectify the problem....................................more talks by any chance? :cuppa

We need to get this unaceptable behaviour by the management sorted out, we all know that they are desperate for ft staff to leave and there intimidation is all part of this . Some guys are leaving in droves but what if a guy just cannot afford to leave.? Does that mean he has to see his health deteriorate ,with the constant stress and at the very worst take his own life be cause he can't cope any more , far fetched maybe but maybe not? Cannot believe what they are doing to this once great company.

I've noticed that the usual few that are always singing the praises of HQ and the 2010 agreement dont seem to have much to say on this subject. Could it be that they've nothing good to say about the way the CWU has handled the problem of bullying managers in the workplace?

The CWU should be ashamed of the way they have neglected this issue, are they going to wait until we have had the tragedy of a member topping themselves because they've had enough before they say enough is enough, or will they wring there hands and write a strongly worded letter to our members telling them that on the back of this tragedy they're going to launch yet another new anti-bullying initiative. :evil/mad

Regretfully there is already one story from Oct 2010 on RMC about 3 posties at Enfield committing suicide http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 18&t=30551" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sadly suicides amongst posties, whatever the underlying cause, is not unknown:

We recently lost a colleague, not a happy place to be :sad:
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Others too. The Enfield thread mentions that "The body of a sixth suspected suicide victim in the space of a year has been found in a Staffordshire village. Carpenter Terry Ball, 35, was found hanged at his home in Gnosall on Sunday. The sequence of deaths began when POSTMAN Craig Parsons, 40, was found hanged in December last year." :sad:
