Wouldn't lower myself to talk directly to a scab in our office, but I made sure they were in earshot this morning when I had to tell a guy whose 60th birthday falls just after the April 2010 deadline, that he'll now have to work until he's 65. Told him that RM say you can still take reitrement at 60, but your pension is reduced by 5% for each year of "early" retirement. So if you leave at what you always believed was your retirement date, they'll chop a QUARTER of your pension

I know some on here say we should welcome back into the fold those strike breakers who might now see the light and not go in during the next round of strikes. Personally, I couldn't stomach standing on the same line as them

Don't get me wrong. I want them to see them out on strike with the rest of us. But they should withdraw their labour and just stay at home. We've already lost 5 days pay whilst some of them were doing duty time + overtime as well. If they didn't realise the need to stand together after the first strike, and didn't then come out on the second strike, you'd have to conclude that they are only coming out this time for some reason of pure self-interest. It's part of the attitude of 'me first, feck everyone else' that makes strike breakers so loathed by those who've lost wages. Seeing the light after 5 strikes ? Nope, I wouldn't trust somebody like that
