As for the ring the bell and the mobile rings, well that may be OK if you have time to wait for a response, I mean is there an indication that the call has been made, the customer may be indisposed to answer - time is of the essence - better the customer queues for a few minutes than the postman is delayed at Royal Mails expense.

Wouldn't mind so much if the depot in Cheltenham was half decent instead of being the size of my garden shed with 2 parking spaces for a population of almost 120,000 people!!!!

people like rules, until they don't suit them.
The postie is right. RM will serve their 'people' to the wolves when it suits them

There is a farm I occasionally deliver to. It has an excellent box. The top opens and takes letters, shoe boxes etc, then when you close it, it all slides down into the bottom half which is locked. The top half doesn't need to be locked, so couriers etc can use it later in the day. It's a decent size, but probably expensive (£300?) . If more people showed an interest and it was mass produced, then the price would fall.

It saves the farmer a 100 mile round trip to pick up his LoveFilm disc, but on the other hand, he expects specials to be signed for and put in as well.
