Re: Bullying on the rise since revision
We have safe guards in place with an agreement, the revision is in 4 parts and we don't progress to the next part unless the the previous bit has worked. The problem is, that managers and planners do not want to admit that they got it wrong, so the area manager and the dom are starting to lean on people to pressure them into making it work.
They are kidding themselves its a pile of crap, We have people going out in shared vans with 2 walks and bringing back 3/4 of a round. I know from talking to our rep that he has spoken to the branch about the bullying and the grievances, but nobody is listening. Is it worth contacting hq?

Re: Bullying on the rise since revision
It's all about getting you to quit the job, how many managers are now saying "well if you don't like it then get another job?" we are getting this quite a lot at my office over the last 12 months or so and thats the master plan behind all this.
CUT OFF!!!

Re: Bullying on the rise since revision
Well saidabraham wrote:What is really depressing about this thread is the deja vu, here we go again language.
The revision failed because of:
useless planning values that the planners believed were correct.
Local managers who knew the volume counts and 100% BSI was nonsense were ignored and
Local managers who were too stupid to realise they were rubbish so kept ploughing on
DSMs operating to target dates and savings were not concerned about whether it would work only that it went in by X and saved Y,
Then having made the savings, they discovered it didn't work, then all the managers and all the planners looked round and had a good think and worked who was to blame...
Can you guess whose fault it all is?
Thought so, now comes the bullying and the testing and the 'performance issues' 'and the 'challenges' and 'get into them' bullying
Meanwhile back at the CWU, who signed up for this, agreed the call rate, agreed the model week etc, are very prickly to criticism from postmen and local reps and are too slow to react,
When they do react, the grievances are not followed up in time, they are too easily fobbed off and local reps come under assault from all sides.
Next the suspensions start and the sackings begin
on and and on it goes, for years now, not months
How is it possible another revision has failed? Doesn't anybody ever learn in this shambles of a company?
One definition of insanity is 'to constantly repeat an experiment and expect a different outcome'
which makes Royal Mail and the CWU totally f***ing insane.
Meanwhile, thousands of postmen dread going into work everyday,
the insanity goes on.
Good luck Stafford boys, you'll need it.

Re: Bullying on the rise since revision
We've been told today that the 2nd part is going in despite the fact that the first part has failed.
The rep says he will put a disagreement in as there's no point going forward with a failing revision. part of me says he should let them get on with it and let them learn the hard way, but then I worry about all the other posties in the office that will be bullied, because they cant cope with an unachievable workload.
I really want to know what HQ and Branch are going to do about all this bullying. We are fed up with being told to put in grievances, whats the point when the dom and area manager ignore them. HQ and Branch are aware of that fact, but do nothing about it.

Re: Bullying on the rise since revision
Bullying and Harassment in endemic in Royal Mail and it is well known by senior managers that it goes on but is either ignored (deliberately) or quietly condoned. Some regions are far better than others and some offices (MCs or DOs) are far better than others but judging by the feedback from the newer units (e.g.HCN) it is on the increase.
In terms of revision activity targets are set by people who do not fully understand issues such as PVs/Model, Average and Peak Week Traffic/Workload and there is simply not enough engagement with the people who undertake the work. Pressure is brought to bear from the top and those managers who do not toe the line are bullied themselves or leave the business on VR very quickly.
There should be zero tolerance on any form of B&H but to achieve this would involve a radical restructuring.

Perhaps we should petition HQ to do something, they must bloody know its going on and are either choosing to ignore it or are themselves condoning it.

Both. The reason is of course they are into this scheme hook line and sinker and have absolutely no idea what to do about it, except keep having meetings and forums and get togethers and talking and ...............resolving nothing.Superfly wrote:Perhaps we should petition HQ to do something, they must bloody know its going on and are either choosing to ignore it or are themselves condoning it.

Re: Bullying on the rise since revision
The problem is of course there is no real opportunity to trial the new style duties and once instituted, because of the changes to packet and tracked deliveries and the loss of bulk duties and the requirement of those vehicles to complement the P&L pool, you cannot revert back............it is a one way revision. Of course there is to be no new money to be spent and there has to be savings or at least a negative expenditure other than the initial investment and increase in overtime due to the changes which has to be quickly brought under control. I would imagine most managers are having kittens over the increased overtime at the outsetfishtank wrote:Members have no experience of park&loop,it couldn't be more different than the way the job was done beforehand.resperin wrote:why are these duties as bad as they are, i was of the thought that the duties can only go in/given the go ahead when the members say its ok
If the rep,the planners and management thought it would work and they had all of the science at their disposal you can hardly blame the members for putting their faith in the tools.
If i said to you i will stick two 3.30hr duties together, add a bit for good measure ,completely redesign it,turn it into loops, give you a partner,a trolley each, the packets, specials and tracked and ask you how long it would take you wouldn't have a feckin clue.
Neither do most of the members...the rep...local planners....local management...area management...the area rep....branch....regional directors...divisional reps ...CWU HQ...the PEC...or senior management.
The only difference is the members don't pretend they know what they are doing.

I would suggest we take the pay rise in Aprildvbuk55 wrote:Both. Then pull the plug on the whole agreement
This so called agreement offers nothing to frontline workers
Weight off back ,the bullying in our office is so bad no one has
The balls to use a trolley !! Yes seriously
One in four Saturdays - non existent
39'hour week - constantly overtime .a real fear to claim in office
Better relations - ten times worse than before
We can bang on ,on here for ever about cutting off, grievances
,b and h forms,1 min prep tests .
The sad fact is the Cwu do know this is all going on
Now and then they send out some sh1t letter telling
Us what to do if it's happening
But it keeps going on
The strong members are getting weakened and singled out
While reps ,div reps etc go round and round this same circle
either aware and not caring or aware and frustrated not knowing
What to do ,as nothing sensible is coming back from headquarters

Re: Bullying on the rise since revision
If you complain they will probably send your office a nice new anti bullying poster as that is a big deterrent to your management bullys...... and you can ring a nice shiny new number,as they have procedures in place to combat it...like ignoring it or sending them a strongly worded pamphlet.Superfly wrote:Perhaps we should petition HQ to do something, they must bloody know its going on and are either choosing to ignore it or are themselves condoning it.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Re: Bullying on the rise since revision
A good few years ago we had a guy hang himself because things at work got so bad for him.
Nothing was said, nothing was done, I guess it'll take a few more before the cwu do anything. I really cant stress how bad things are in our office, sickness is through the roof, there must be 3 or 4 grievances going in a week and prep test's are being used to intimidate people.

Re: Bullying on the rise since revision
I just found this Royal Fail web page
http://www.royalmail.com/small-medium-b ... -dividends
It was obviously made by "us" to tell other companies how to treat staff. Need to get most of our own managers to read it AND take notes! There is no place for bullying and harassment in the workplace.
