Royal Mail’s U-turn on closing Halstead’s delivery office has been hailed as a “victory” for the town.

After a year-long battle by postal workers, union representatives, Halstead residents, the town council and many others, Royal Mail has finally bowed to public pressure.

Instead of relocating operations from the Halstead delivery office to Sudbury, the town’s office will now stay open.
