How much work are you getting?

Just a quick heads up really to see how much work fellow Angardee's are getting through the "Flexible Casual Resource" particularly since Christmas and for those who qualified for new rates under AWR.

Work for me has been sparse to say the least with my last shift on 17th February. (2 days work and previous single shift on 6th Feb).

All work has been arranged by a phone call from my MC manager. At no time have I had any work arranged by Angard. Is anyone else getting shifts and if so are these from calls from Angard or from people you know in the MC.

I know its not much to ask but even one 8 hour shift a week is better than nothing but even that has dried up....any thoughts?

I actually have never had any contact with Angard since my interview just the occasional text message offering me work (usually where I am working even while I am working which is the funny part) My manager at the MC tells us all when to come in and although the shifts have shrunk in terms of time I am guaranteed at least 20 hours of work a week. Theres about 20 of us who are on the books so I've been really lucky that I'm one of the few who have never been screwed up by Angard.

I had to get Angard to tell the Mail Centre I have qualified before I got the higher pay and to get them to stop taking my breaks off my hours - they couldnt/wouldnt work it out for themselves nor believed me. Still fighting to get some of the pay paid at the higher rate and my breaks I should have been paid for paid. Not yet received information about any new T&Cs.

Since qualifying I have been getting mainly direct calls from Mail Centre, request to come in tomorrow when at the Mail Centre and a few texts/calls from Angard. Average hours per week since qualification is 20 (4 weeks) - no guarantee of any hours whatsoever.

Sounds interesting Verging. I can't decide whether to contact them myself this week to inform them as I can see them mucking it up and once a mistake is made it seems to take ages just to sort out the simplest stuff. I know there are others on my shift who have also worked the same time length and they have phoned up and been told the usual stuff of we will ring you back. Going to work in a bit so will find out from them if theres been any updates otherwise I feel that I need to ring them so I can make sure I get the AWR rate this week. Still even if I did I guess theres still a chance they would still muck it up.

I've worked every week since 5th dec too 20/25 hours so am waiting with bated breath to see what I get paid this fri as its my 13th pay, the guys in our mail centre were usually asked our availability for the following week on a Monday or Tuesday then given our shifts on the thurs, but recently they have been getting angard to call to request us to work as angard said to us they didn't know we were still working as the mail centre wasn't going thru them. Luckily for me and one other angard we at my mail centre we have been given permanant contracts with royal mail so only have 1 more week to work with angard then my employer will change to RM. There are 4 of us passed the awr and I noticed when I signed in last night where it normally says angard staffin next to my name it said awr, and we even got offered breaks. A week late but better than nowt.

The situation at the mail where I work seems to be similar to where Cazspence works and I've posted about this on other parts of the this forum because it seems strange that there is so much variation around the country. Where I work they are still using about 40 to 50 casual staff and we've mostly been getting 4 or 5 shifts per week. Those of us that started 21st November are mostly getting paid the new higher rate though predictably they are still getting it wrong for some people. We're also getting the same breaks as RM staff.
However some casuals have been given RM contracts though only for only saturday and sunday work. They can then opt to do other shift as overtime during the week. It seems like they are still being messed around though -asked to come in at different times and sometimes at short notice. As there is reduced overtime available for long term RM staff, I would have thought this a cause for resentment. My gripe is that there doesn't seem to be any logic as to who has been offered a contract and it makes the rest of us feel like second class citizens!

hi only had 2 nightshifts in plymouth m/c since 14th jan when i finished the xmas stint. Have been told there most likely be nothing till end of march. I have informed angard i am willing to do all shifts but have heard nothing.

I tend to get days here and there but only when i contact the delivery offices as angard don't have a scooby

That actually seems to be the sensible way to do it. Presumably you had to do the on-line aptitude test -sorting the post codes? It seems crazy that they do sometimes give casual staff contracts without checking whether or not they are any good, but if you apply for a job with Royal Mail through the ususal channels you have to pass a test and do the psychometric test.

Years ago I had to do the postcode test to be an Xmas Casual, which makes complete sense.

since january 20th, nothing. my royal mail manager said he would get back to me, but never did. i have tried to contact angard, who said they will see what they can do, nothing from them either. people who are still there now from before xmas tell me that they are getting 1-2 shifts a week at that

I work at gatwick center and have been working after xmas on a 20hour GTD saturday 2-9 monday 1-3 and tuesday 11-6 but I have been doing a lot more hours then this as my manager is calling 4 5 of us in everyday., last week I did 45hours and havent really been doing less then 30 per week which is good........I am also on the new AWR rate of £11.20! as thats what it says on my payslip, so all is well so far with me I am also getting paid for breaks!!!
