"Anything for No.89 Postie?" when you are at No 1 - rummaging through the next bundle just to hand them 5 D2D's - slows you down, but i find it satisfying.

Sandy: "It's a cheerful philosophy and I've heard it from people before. They're all dead now."

OUTDOOR: the same again , did they get 1 or this one next door's! TAP,TAP,TAP. :evil/mad
I write the number on the envelope when sorting. Takes longer then, but helps when delivering.

Escaped sheep/horses and cows.

Dustcarts on narrow roads, who's rounds are similar to the point where we seem to meet at least a dozen times in various places.

People who are frightened of country lanes and drive everywhere at 20mph,in the middle of the road and stop whenever a bike comes the other way and have heart failure when a bus approaches, by which time I have chewed through the steering wheel to the metal.

Line Managers begging me to complete when it's obvious I cannot.

When will they realise it's now two bursts I am handing them back now instead of one because they went on, and on, and on.........
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Inside: D2Ds, walking to the other side of the office for the re-directs, work time learning, being moved to fittings you don't know most days, trying to find a spare york to take stuff outside (bright callers office staff use them to tidy up before we've left), asking for P739s because no one has re-stocked them, queing for specials, elastic bands that keep snapping, etc. etc.

Outside: lapsing, people who get out of bed when you knock and expect the door to be unlocked then waiting for 5 mins while they find the keys, peeling recorded stickers off, battling with catches and gates which need a good shove, letter boxes that are too stiff to use one hand, people asking for their post a few houses down, resurecting a bundle which has fallen apart due to elastic bands snapping on route, not bein able to park where you want, walking down long drives with just junk mail for the house, people stopping to have a chat, letter boxes low down on the floor, stupid boxes on the wall that are too narrow to get magazines flat packets in, scrap metal people doing 5mph down a long street, dustbin men etc. etc.

Actually that reminds me....

Foreign 'signed for' never (apart from irish ones) have a detachable sticky barcode so you have to write them in manually.... complete PITA

Strangely about 2 weeks ago I had a foreign Signed For with the red RM "signature required' sticker and a bar code of "R26" (or similar) next day got the same for a different address. So how the f*ck do they marry up the code with signature for the customer??? bet there having a laff at RM's expense

Mail and parcels slow me down. If it wasn't for them I could do the round quicker.

Might as well say that to our numerous DOMs that come and go - they never seem to believe me with all the other well known reasons that actually seem normal to me, such as putting fuel in a vehicle that is on empty, walking (not running) and starting work at the time I am paid from.

indoor - just before going out only to receive a dozen missorts when you have packed and ready to go :arrrghhh
Outdoor - People talking and constantly talking (eg. some1 talking about their mail being treated not to an expected standard or blaming us for not posting the mail fully through the letterbox when you didn't commit such thing!)
Also the occasion when the elastic bands slip off due to different circumstances and the mail is either a mess in the pouch or on the floor everywhere!
Don't forget the long walks to each and every house when they are barred off with fences etc.
The people making us wait when they are either half asleep and naked (need to be dressed) oor in a shower...

These are just the start of the slowing down - these occur 75% of the time... (missort almost guaranteed each time!) xD
