2. PROGRESSIVENESS: The way we workFlexible working options at Royal Mail
Royal Mail offers a variety of flexible working options enabling employees to effectively combine work and private life:
Job sharing
Job sharing enables employees to share a full-time position. This is particularly suitable for deliveries, where one post could be shared between two part-time employees. Example: one employee works Monday to Wednesday, the job share partner works Wednesday to Friday ensuring a smooth handover of work on Wednesdays.
Term time working
Sometimes employees work during term-time only which means that resources can be aligned to any time. Parents find this option particularly helpful as it enables them e.g. taking 2 weeks additional paid time off during school holidays.
Out of term working
Some employees may prefer to work specifically out of term time, e.g. students or elder employees.
Self Rostering
Some employees choose to arrange their workload via self-rostering. This may include the whole or part of the unit, e.g. employees work Monday to Friday but are only required to work 1 in 6 Saturdays due to rostering Saturday attendance.
Compressed hours
This means that the total number of weekly hours is compressed into a shorter working week. Examples include a 40-hour week spread over 5 days instead of 6, or a 20-hour part-time post spread over 3 days instead of 5.
The Wallington arrangement is a special form of this option: employees’ work 8-hours per day over 6 days for 5 weeks and get the sixth week off

There's no way I'm going under the knife and wearing skirts to work - on the one hand there's not a lot to lose and on the other I've been told I look attractive in fishnets and mini - oh go on then!disgruntledpostie1 wrote:hereThrogg wrote:where did you find this?

-This happened to one of The Anthrax Sisters at the "Zoo" , off with depression for 8 weeks ,was doing evenings and a weekend AG contract , making more money than the PHGs( & hated by them as the missorts went through the roof ) on nights apparently £21-23+K allegedly ! . Under Familly Friendly Policy 40hrs FT on days .All for Brownie Points for the "caring " RM as they were threatened with investigation by the EOC . 26%-33% of complaints to the EOC concerned RM's "management team ".dvbuk55 wrote:There's no way I'm going under the knife and wearing skirts to work - on the one hand there's not a lot to lose and on the other I've been told I look attractive in fishnets and mini - oh go on then!disgruntledpostie1 wrote:hereThrogg wrote:where did you find this?

Many years ago when I left the army one of the jobs I had was to take bagged coinage to a bank. At this time the female tellers had received "equality on pay" with their male colleagues ( and I don't want to get into a discussion of the rights and wrongs here ladies) anyway as you can imagine the coinage was in some quantity and quite heavy and one of the female tellers shouted "John can you lift these on the trolley for me?" to which he replied "You wanted to get paid the same as me so you do it".
Equality is a strange thing because it seems to overcompensate when there is a problem perceived. The example above is just one aspect but it goes right across the spectrum in my opinion.

-The one mentioned wasn't apparently popular with some Postie Women -enough said ! as they feel they give everybody a bad name , seen some faracial cases with the NUR , one case she tripped herself up left right & centre in Court - none of the girls would have anything to do with her , another one turned on the waterworks to a senior manager late at night , the poor clerk ended up being arrested by a Transport Policeman , a petition to the area manager soon sorted that out ; even her Transport policeman boyfriend said she could be "difficult". To postieladies who are being geniunely harassed , bullied or propositioned etc , I sympathise as it's out of order . If I mention Royal Fail to people , I usually get two responses 1 Why so much politics 2 You are supposed to be running a business but that's all outside the box !.dvbuk55 wrote:Bollocks Norbet - you're not telling me Royal Mail have a management team!norbet colon wrote:-This happened to one of The Anthrax Sisters at the "Zoo" , off with depression for 8 weeks ,was doing evenings and a weekend AG contract , making more money than the PHGs( & hated by them as the missorts went through the roof ) on nights apparently £21-23+K allegedly ! .
