It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

You can add Stafford to the list. It was supposed to come in 4 phases, phase 1 went live 2 weeks ago and they had to pull the plug on it today whilst they try and find out whats gone wrong, and before the rest of the office went live. :left:

Alas only those who do the job can tell both Royal Mail and CWU HQ why these revisions don't work and our opinions it would appear are worthless.
They tweak and they fiddle with the model week and they change this and that with the IWT but they refuse to listen to what we told the 18 months ago.
The basic system of 2 in a van park&loop is fundamentally flawed because it is overburdened with inefficiencies a single duty didn't have and those are multiplied because there are two of you.
In order for it to work properly you have to vastly reduce the duty sizes and that is not going to happen because that would require an investment in hours when Royal Mail are fruitlessly chasing a reduction.
The only thing that will give it an appearance of working is members cutting corners and killing themselves but how long will that last?
The only question now is how long can RM and HQ hold out before they run up the white flag?
There are some massive egos at stake. :cuppa

I suspect as far as RM are concerned the real efficiency gains in P&L are to be had through casualisation. Sequenced mail and having all the loops marked on the frame (assuming the planner got it right) are two moves that would seem to be targeted at making the job do-able by anyone brought in off the street.
The machine stops.

The problem is, the job isn't do-able by those that have been doing the jobs for years. We were led to believe that once the walk had been sequenced and rationalised, anyone one would be able to drop onto any duty and do a fare days work. The truth is, that we have duties that make no sense on the ground and do not follow on in a logically. They've planned using traffic from the quietest time of the year and then wonder why we cant complete when things pick up and we cut off.

I'm paid for 7.48 hrs a day and I work to the best of my ability, using the tools I am given to do the job. If I cant complete and have to cut off, then that's their problem. I'm not worried, not bothered anymore and I'm not paid enough to fix the problems they've created. :left:

Sounds like it should be failing, but that the majority are making it work.

All together now.
