Re: working your scedule attendance while on leave
I hope RM withdraw the bi -annual S/A payment from those who come in on annual leave, they must be really hard up !!!!keithposty wrote:i would be obliged if we have clear directions on this
can an opg come in and do his SA while on leave for that week
the argument is that as its only a five day week out of seven, they are counting the saturday as their day off to come in on a thursday for instance
i am of the opinion that if you are on leave then your week is sunday to sunday and that it is not permitted to work an SA WHILE ON HOLIDAY
i am asking this because an SA is a seperate contract and is an addition to your normal working criteria
i do not want to come accross as a kill joy but clarification is needed

Re: working your scedule attendance while on leave
they would be on thin ice if they did, the two payments are for annual leave fromj your SA shifts, as its "scheduled" it can be classed as contracted over time which you are entitled to holiday pay for, so they pay the equivelant of your minimum statutory leave entitlement as a lump sum twice per year, if they didnt do that then they would have to continue paying for the sceduled attendance shifts during your normal annual leave and bank holidays which would cost them more in the long run as we get more than the statutory minimum annual leaveRed Robbo wrote:I hope RM withdraw the bi -annual S/A payment from those who come in on annual leave, they must be really hard up !!!!keithposty wrote:i would be obliged if we have clear directions on this

Re: working your scedule attendance while on leave
We have slowly moved away from a situation where overtime was the norm and some people are having difficulty adapting to the new world where a 50/60 hour week is no longer available.zx135 wrote:then you also have a similar situation where some people start a scheduled attendance shift before the end of their normal duty time and are paid twice for same hours,
problem that the union would have is if they were seen to start clamping down on these "perks" that more than a few people have managed to negotiate for themselves and it was the union being seen to clamp down, i think a fair few members would vote with their feet,
my personal opinion is that no one in any office should be allowed to book ot or do sa until every member in the office had be given the chance to increase their hours to 39 hours that way every member that wanted had got a full time wage, then look at who gets the overtime fairly
We also have moved back towards mass unemployment where a 50/60 hour week begins to look immoral.
I agree that a lot of overtime should be stripped out of every office in favour of permanent duties.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: working your scedule attendance while on leave
i agree with you, a 50/60 hour week should not be required, if we were paid a decent wage for a decent days work then there would be little or no need for someone to constantly have to work extra hours, yes there are occasions where it may be needed for a short while, but the majority of the time we should be able to comfortably live on our wage and not have to work ridiculous hours each week to make ends meet, clashcityrocker wrote:We have slowly moved away from a situation where overtime was the norm and some people are having difficulty adapting to the new world where a 50/60 hour week is no longer available.zx135 wrote:then you also have a similar situation where some people start a scheduled attendance shift before the end of their normal duty time and are paid twice for same hours,

Re: working your scedule attendance while on leave
Somebody even wanting to come in for SA when they are supposed to be on leave should be gripped firmly by the shoulders, spun around and told to GET A LIFE.
If you've got SA, you get paid a lump sum every 6 months to cover the SA you miss out on when on leave.
Working that same SA instead of staying away from the office is not only against the Way Forward Agreement, it also could be construed as fraud to be paid twice for the same hourage.
It's exactly this sort of behaviour that the likes of Adam Crozier was referring to when he spoke of 'Spanish Practices' (his choice of phrase, not mine) in Royal Mail

No cars being used, they take 1 and 1/2 rounds out in their van and agree a payment with the manager, normally 3 or 4 hours.zx135 wrote:who mentioned cars? it happens all over the place regardless of personal cars being used or notbringon4dayweeks wrote:NOT A chance in our office doing that cars are bannedBahia Feliz wrote:We regularly have people going home at 3pm being paid till 6 or 7pm after having done half of another round on o/t etc.daveyeff wrote:ghost ''blue'' (overtime) is supposed to be banned now, so how is it still allowed to happen?
