MDEC "Have Your Say"

Post by Codebreaker »

I thought it might be timely to post a new topic, perhaps people who work at the MDECs might like to comment on the recently published 'Have Your Say' results.

GOOD LUCK TO US ALL AND HAVE FAITH
It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

My opinion is the hys is not worth the time and effort of employing a outside company to produce survey as royal mail ignore results.

I'm glad someone has brought this up, I noticed that my comments were ommited from HYS this
year and wondered if it had happened to a lot of other people. But I do agree that it is a waste of time and
money.

Yes mine and my partners comments were omitted, but other stupid ones made it through. So much for all comments will be published.

At my office no comments were omitted and some of them were straight to the point and as usual nothing is done when there are serious issues.

From what I saw the part about the manager had improved over the previous year.

No surprize there then. When I was there my comments were always omitted! Why pay for an outside company to help find out your workplace problems are when you are just going to ignore them and gag people who actually have the nerve to stand up and say what they feel (both in the workplace and in stupid hys surveys)?

Oh, I forgot for a second...it's royal mail we're talking about here! :lfo :cfo

Stoke MDEC have just been sent a leaflet written by Pam Foster, our Ops Manager outlining why we should support HYS and listing the achievements since the last survey. The whole thing is spin and an insult to anyone with an ounce of intelligence. Most of believe that she is running scared about meeting the same as John Garner met last year when he was booted out as head of Stockport MDEC.

The whole thing is comical. The truth is that 4 out of 7 team reps have left our site HYS group because they were they fed up with lack of progress. Nothing has changed. According to one rep the action plan that gets sent to Allan Leighton is blatant fraud because none of the things they say they have done have actually been done. A local interim survey was carried out in June and the results have still to published. In fact the site committee haven't had a meeting since this survey was carried out!!!

If anything all Pam has done is alerted people to the fact that HYS is imminent, and given us notice to list our gripes ready for when we get the survey. Time to stick the boot in and try and get rid of our idle useless management team.

*sigh* your so sure of yourself aren't you. I've seen previous HYS results and they were full of comments about Mrs Foster and her inability to do this or that blah blah blah. Nothing happened last time and nothing will happen again. You want to check your facts about why people actually left the HYS group before posting it up as fact as well. It's these kind of idiots that really piss me off. With their "I heard" or "I was informed of" unless you actually saw what they sent off to tango-tan leighton keep your mouthing (which this post consists of) to yourself. we want actual FACT not second hand information the MDEC is full of things like this.

Yes, let's all give up and hope that Pam just goes away!

The problem I find with Stoke MDEC is that there is a vocal minority who have something to say but most just come in and accept the sh*t that's thrown at them. If more people stood up and were counted then maybe we could get rid of them.

I'm not a union member myself but I would suggest to you Chainsawkiller, as our union rep, that maybe you try exerting some leadership and influence and get people to write what you want them to, and make sure they post HYS themselves outside the building to stop management filtering what goes off. The worse the results, the more likely someone will take note. I personally believe that yet again a handful will tell the truth and the majority will display their usual apathy and the end results will make Pam & Martin look like they're OK in charge.

As for the leaflet, what else could it be but Pam running scared? Ask the night staff about their ex-manager Teresa Barlow crawling to them one night early in the shift repeating the same as the leaflet. Ask if that's not fear, why else would they do it?

This sounds like some of the staff at plymouth mdec, must be something to do with the bullshit they are fed.
