There is a list that they have to put there name on the previous week, some get on some don't. No idea how it works as I cut off and let the managers deal with it :angel

Ostenstibly the lino, in practice the monkeys themselves. They get wind of what's going on any given day and put themselves forward. There is usually more than enough to keep them all satisfied, so it's not a problem.
The lino takes the line of least resistence. If the job's covered then that's one less thing for him to worry about.

Have to take everything out for a ride in the van, then bring it back.

Despite all the bull and bluster about how long they reckon a duty takes, they know full well which ones will run over.
Sometimes they bellyache and make a half-hearted attempt to cajole people into trying to complete but, at the end of the day, they just want the work covered. The less hassle, the better.

its called institutionalised bullying it is rife through out royal mail yours is the first ive heard of for the reason you give normally its on various types that are not doing the job by the book [fish/foul] it all usually stems from weak management who doesnt have the nads or know how on how to deal with it or crap management who use it as a tool to divide and conquer then pick on the victims helped sometimes by a wishy washy union rep that dont know who he is employed to represent, if you read thru a lot of the threads on here that involve working practices youll see a lot of comments that can be construed as bullying meant or not it is a form of intimidation ................. :confused
