you arnt allowed to give members of the public a free ride though, and if they,ve got it in for you, rest assured you will be out the door on that one.taurus88 wrote:Are you not allowed to give work-mates lifts then? I've had a few lifts at the end of my shift - no going off-route, or anything, just a since-you're-going-that-way scrounge. It happens lots at our place and nothing is ever said about it.

Re: Just been Suspended
We were told a good while back we weren't even allowed to pick up other posties on bikes on their way back to the office. You feel really bad if it's pouring down and you have to drive on past them. Best of luck mate but I wouldn't be too hopeful.

Re: Just been Suspended
That is good news. My office is in the process of implementing the new way of working and the taking the van home has been a plus for a lot of people to become a driver. The responsibility that comes with taking the van home has not been made clear regarding the policy with the van. People are already saying they'll use it for shopping etc..... The carrott that comes with the van may cost people their jobs.pyphon wrote:I'm back to work tomorrow, said not gonner lose my job but might get disiplined.

That seems fair enough.
Hopefully at the very worst it will be a 5 year serious warning.
Most of the buggers on here had you already out the door

Re: Just been Suspended
You could just get a reprimand which will last 1 year or a Serious Warning which will be on your record for 2 years. Good luck and do everything by the book from now on as it looks like you've been given a 2nd chance.

AFAIK yes as long as the whole procedure has been complied with.eastie wrote:What about people using cars on delivery, are the parcels insured if the car catches fire??
However, if the office has undergone a Delivery Methods revision, which means the Bond is no longer in effect for that office then its a NO.

you,ve been lucky there then. the dom must be reasonable, if it was our dom, you would be out the door, he takes no prisoners and likes to get people peddled. he had no less than 27 charges against one lad. even the dsm was shaking his head at that one. when it was my brother and another colleague, he conjured up 8 charges each. yes, you,re exremely fortunate there mate. good on ya. dont do it again.pyphon wrote:I'm back to work tomorrow, said not gonner lose my job but might get disiplined.

Re: Just been Suspended
Theres a guy in our office who goes to the gym in his van, and lifts his child from school too. The office manager "not royal mail manager" never says a thing. Being a rural we never see a royal mail manager often, i do think he is really taking the piss to be fair.
