National Insurance Deductions
Has anybody, who was a Xmas casual, had NI deductions taken in error by Angard? How long did it take to have it refunded, or are you still waiting?

Re: National Insurance Deductions
It's a bit confusing, baring in mind your 'Annual salary' could be well below the year end figure for a lot of you Angardies, but your weekly amount over...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: National Insurance Deductions
Reading between the lines I first thought the figures applied if you worked weekly but wen you multiply it by 52 it comes to the tax free allowance. I think your onto something. The other thing that would interest me is to obtain the state pension you have to make regular contributions over a number of years in your working life. Being the 21 year old that I am I shouldnt think about this but what is the rule regarding gaining a year of contributing to the NI pool as in a funny sort of way if you had to make a few contributions then this could be beneficial whenever if ever I become a pensioner.
In all honesty though it appears Angard have taken this into account in that the last couple of weeks I have paid 3.38 in NI which is exactly right as they are taking 12% of the additional amount that I have been earning above the £139 threshold. I also know that even if I remain employed for the rest of the tax year I will have earned under the threshold but have decided to carry on paying the 20% tax and all the other deductions knowing that I will be able to get this back. This gives me a bit of security if I wasn't wanted by Angard/RM anymore.
I wonder what AWR will do to all of this out of curiosity has there been anymore news to anybody about this.

My apologies, but I accidentally omitted to say that I am of an age where I am exempt from paying NI contributions.

There is a number of people at the mail centre I work at in a similar situation. They have claimed various reasons for taking it (person didnt not send certificate is the usual one - why they cannot work it our from birthdate I do not know).Badsworth wrote:My apologies, but I accidentally omitted to say that I am of an age where I am exempt from paying NI contributions.
