I was issued with a stage 1 warning last May because I had a dog bit incident and had 2 weeks off sick with the bite, a week back then another 2 weeks off with aniety work related stress because management did not deal with the problem properly.
Previous to that I had been off with a cold in march for 5 days

I got area cwu to write a report to D Joyce, who then wrote to Anglian Rm Safety director, got a reply from CWU in november that management would have to recinder the stage 1 back to 0, Royal mail never done this or even said anything to me even though i kept asking them if they had heard from theis safety director.
When i had a meeting in january with ADM and Lino who put me on stage 1 they actually acknowledged they had got the letter.

Now after having 5 days off in november with a cold, 7 days in feb this year with work related stress/chest infection I am back up for another stage 1,

I think you should be able to appeal as it is so stressfull that you end up feeling a lot worse then you are already,

I was always under the impression that it is up to the managers discretion but my manager does not have any common sense and just issue's them regardless of circumstances and it just causes more stress

Woof just tried with a member (last week)RM refused to hear it .. And they did show me info regarding you can't put a grievance in on any procedure that has an appeals process Built into it ...I contacted my Div Reps and that was the advice they gave me that I wrote previously

Complaints against decisions taken in relation to other procedures,such as the conduct code should be pursued under the relevant Appeal Stage of that procedure.
Those are Royal Mail's words.

This is not a complaint against a decision taken,this is a complaint against the failure to follow the relevant procedure in the first place.
The stage 3 dismissal appeal is not designed to address failures in the application of the attendance procedure...failures like these should never get as far as dismissal.
It is supposed to be purely an appeal against the decision to dismiss.
That is why,in my opinion a grievance is relevant and necessary in this case.
I'm sure different reps,areas and divisions have different opinions but that's mine.

I agree fishtank totally , The grievance we put forward was not against the decision but against 5 reasons the manager gave in his reasoning, basically the manager made up his own AP ...I was only sharing my situation and the advice I recieved ..if it does end up at tribuneral we have evidence that we did try and resolve this issue ...also it is going through the I/R Framework ....

yeah our managers think they know there stuff ,they didnt know that bit wejust threw all the evidence as o why the decision was wrong and they agreed over ruled the stage 2 on at least 2 occasions now
